Got an old steel Mtb frame I want to add some rack mounts to. Doesn’t need to be too pretty.
What about these?
SEAT RACK MOUNT:
RACK P-CLIPS:
I did think about that but wasn’t sure how strong they would be. Also, got a nice seat clamp I don’t want to swap out 😉
Years ago there used to be a guy down Camden Road (as you go away from town, past the crossroads, hidden down an archway on the left) that did some amazing custom car radiators, as well as repairs and recores. No idea if he's still around and can't for the life of me remember his name, but I'd imagine his skills could help?
Geoff Roberts would probably do it. Half hour away near Hailsham.
Fit them yourself - 55% silver solder and flux off ebay, mapp gas plumbing torch.
I make M5 threaded bosses just using normal nuts. 2 mins to turn off half the hex using a little lathe so they locate in a hole drilled in the seatstay - makes a strong joint once soldered in.
If you are up to the drilling and soldering I can sort the nuts and pop in the post.
Thanks Mick, given my inability to do the most basic of diy I’m not sure I’d trust myself with a plumbing torch 🙂
Will try Geoff 🙂
