I'm looking to cash in STW brownie points. I'm doing a charity ride from Edinburgh to Chesterfield. I was planning to camp near Selby next Saturday night (1St Oct). The only campsite on route is now closed next weekend, which means my charity mission of camping for the whole trip is at risk. So,does anyone either know somewhere I can pitch up for the night... or.... Maybe a garden??
Or randomly, is anyone's kid in the local Scouts? There is a scout campsite but closed to the public... Unless I was helping out with a "bikepacking badge", errm or something.

millbridge farm naburn, just off the york to selby bike path. which you should be riding down if the want to live. (avoid the a19)

There's a campsite at the Sloop Inn, Temple Hirst, about seven miles south of Selby, two miles off the A19 and on the Transpennine trail. If you made it as far as Doncaster we could sort a garden pitch for you. Which is the scout camp you're thinking of?

Scout camp was called Tamarack I think. The closed campsite is Hagg Moss.

I'll check those others out, many thanks.

Nice one, hope the wind is good for you. We had lunch at the Sloop last week heading north on a (shorter) charity ride up the TPT. We know the Scouts who run Squirrel Wood, the next one south at Burghwallis so could have got you in there if needed, but it sounds like that would be a bit far south to break your journey.

So the Sloop is definitely still open...? Only they haven't replied by phone or Facebook. I'm guessing it would be fine to just turn up but I'll keep trying.

OK, looking for local assistance again... Both the Sloop Inn and Royal Oak Inn Hotel (Main Street, Hirst Courtney) don't reply to phone or facebook. Does anyone know if they're still operating as a campsite? I'm a bit nervous about just turning up off the back of two big days on the bike to be told I can't stay there. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Why Selby? I'll rephrase. I'm Northallerton but that's too north for you, I guess?

Have you tried Scalm Park, a mile or 2 north west of Selby?

Yes, Sloop campsite was operational last weekend, tents and caravans visible. Pub too. Place was deserted until opening time though, so you could try ringing during drinking hours.
