Wrist has been killing for days and doc said I've got tendonitis in my wrist from using a laptop all day.
Anyone had this before and know how long it takes to clear up? I'm meant to be going mtbing for a long wknd in a week up in Scotland....
He said laptop, but he was thinking somethinge else!
Ibuleve may help.
I get this in my right wrist from using a mouse all day for 3d cad.
I'm looking into getting a more ergonomic mouse.
I would be laying off the laptop as much as possible, perhaps icing your wrist and taking regular ibuprofen to get the inflammation down.
I suffered with it for a couple of months after doing a couple of longer distance rides where i was in one position on the bike for long time.
I've now gone one stage further and the EPL tendon into my thumb has ruptured, leaving me with a non-opposing thumb and awaiting surgery.
I think you need to address the way you use your laptop first, then when it comes to riding the bike, to maybe look at Ergon grips, gloves such as Specialized BG ones that have padding over the palm where it is needed and look at making sure bike it set up correctly so that you are in the right position on the bike and not putting too much stress on wrist.
If the normal Ibuprofen doesn't work, then asked to be referred to a specialist, i'm not a medical person, but steroid injections helped me
I had this from kayaking, took about a month to totally go, rest is the only cure, stay off the laptop as long as you can
As said above, tendinitis needs rest to sort it out. Not much else helps.
Ice the living daylights out of it. Sorts out all my aches. I ice until it hurts bad.
I've also had it from kayaking. As said above, rest is the only cure - stop using the "laptop".
Thanks for all of the replies. I can't really limit my use of the "laptop" as I need it for work everyday. I've spoke to occ health and I'll hopefully I'll get a docking station sorted for when I'm in the office and a more ergonomic setup.
I'll try some of the ideas above. I've got a splint and am doing the ibuprofen thing so will ice the h*ll out of it tonight!
Cheers
My wrist always hurts after using the laptop too, especially when the GF is out.
