On the tourer I'm still struggling with getting the fit right but I have a strange problem after about 20 miles my toes sometimes feel like they have elastic bands on them or rings or string wrapped round them. At first I thought I had put a toe through my sock it's very odd
If I get off a bit it goes away could it be related to a lower back twinge I'm getting on the bike
Hopefully it will stop as I've just had a bike fit and swapped stems.
My mate said he had the exact same feeling when on chemo but it went weird
Sounds like your shoes are too tight to me, are you clipped in ?
How small are your pedals ? How long have you been riding. Try wiggling your toes and ball of foot around in the shoe toe box, if none of the above then your G string is too tight? Possibly chaffing.
I sometimes get the toe problem but it has to be bloody cold, I rectified the other a long long time ago, commando stylie
Shoes shouldnt be too tight but I'll loosen them up. Clipped in to mtb spds. I've ridden years but only had this problem recently which makes me think it's related to my back and bike fit
I'm wondering if you need a better inner sole, e.g. with a higher arch, and/or more cushioning at the toes ?
I've had similar problems, though not as you've described. I've found that better inner soles helps, as does removing any dead skin build-up or callus on my feet (I'm not suggesting you've got horrible feet like me !)
If this is new and so is the back pain and the only change is the bike fit then the bike fit would be the obvious culprit.
The bike fit was today to get rid of the pain I was just wondering if anyone else had had it. Hopefully it will be gone but I can't ride til Monday now to check
Dj I got some custom insoles during the fit so fingers crossed 🙂
It's all those years of wearing Yella Wellies Mick..
Makes yer feet go soft.
😉
They are nick lol I nearly went down the Jones bar route on the stand or God forbid sell the frame 🙁 fit is just about the last hope
Ah mate, don't sell it yet Mick.. try everything first, we need to get out and ride.. even if yer feet a wrecking.
Hope you get it squared away soon as Pal.
All the best with it eh..
Cheers mate I was waiting on you getting back to me regarding a ride 🙂 I'll see how I am on this on Monday and let you know mate

Rhohypnol and a kinky postie
🙂
I have to say its an odd symptom and does not sound back related to me.
It would be quite unusual for something back related to effect toes in both feet.
I get numbness and phantom sensations as a result of back trouble. For me it feels like my sock has slipped down and crumpled up in the shoe. Only effects one leg through
The one time I did have symmetrical sensations (or rather lack of senstation and movement) in both feet I was rushed into hospital for a brain scan!!!
Yes it's odd alright lol hopefully new insoles and a bike fit will sort me out
Not had this, but for a while it sometimes felt like my toes were cold and wet, to the point I would check to see the puddle I had just stood in (there wasnt one and they were perfectly dry)
useless post sorry 😉
I had a bike fit this summer, what a waste of time, look at the spd cleat in relation to your foot bed, is it too far forward on the slide? Is your seat front sloping down bearing more weight on your pasties.
Lastly are you using the little pedals or a pair of platform pedals with sod clip built in,
I'd also guess that if it's toes only, it's most likely from your feet rather than back
Once you're sure the shoes aren't too tight, could they be getting cold/wet ?
Look at your cleats as somebody said, also think whether your soles are too flexy and allowing pressure points to build on longer rides. Moving the cleats or trying different pedals would make sense
Funnily enough I also sometimes get the feeling that my socks have ruckled up under my toes - and when I check, they have 😀
... and if nothing works, or if it worsens/extends beyond your toes, you are allowed to talk to a doctor
(Dr google suggests that some folk get toe paraesthesias due to pressure on the outside of their knee irritating a nerve there (sitting crosslegged or kneeling right down with knees fully bent or particularly some yoga positions ?)
