So I was just idly wondering (as you do when you're supposed to be working....) if anyone has had professional photographs done of their bikes?
When I had a TVR (before kids etc....) I know a few people who had either studio or location photos done of their cars.
I know some of these were sent to insurance companies etc. for the agreed valuations etc.
So does anyone offer this service?
Anyone had it done?
Let's face it some bikes are amazing to look at and have some great details and have a lot of time, money and thought put into the builds.

I'm sure the offers to take your bike's pic will come flooding in...

No. but i have shot bikes for manufactures in the past.
a lot of shots i have seen by ‘professionals’ look very ropey though as using a sofbox and plonking them on a white background thinking thats how you light something shiny is only going to result in mediocre images.
if its for insurance just use your phone.

bikes are for riding, i have a couple of unique custom painted road bikes, a studio full of equipment and i haven’t bothered. why would you? i would rather ride them.

Does it do pouty looks and skimpy underwear? Would you keep the images secret from your wife?

I have.

But then I'm mates with a pro 'tog. I imagine any photographer would do it, for their usual fee.

Got to be a lot easier than sitting in the woods trying to take pics of a moving one....

Thanks all.
Wasn't thinking of it for me.
Just curious if people did it - knowing how obsessive car owners and bike owners can be.

My bikes a "she" in my mind. It recently occurred to me in a moment of bizarre thought whilst trying to take a picture of the BB from the floor that I was basically up skirting "her".

A mate of mine is a professional, he took some pictures of my bike whilst we were having a break during a ride a couple of weeks ago.

They were decidedly mediocre and I told him I thought they were a bit crap.

He, quite rightly, pointed out that he was a professional chef with little interest in photography so what did I expect..... 😀

With the exception of a custom built frame, or some stuff on the pro xc tweaks thread, that's stretching it a bit.

Not exactly the same thing, but quite a few people seem to go through Illustrate My Bike (I follow her on Instagram, but I think she has a website and Etsy shop too).

I think the bike drawings look good, if you want something for the wall at home.
