Looking at getting one of those Pinnacle bikes on the C2W, esp as it is reduced just now:

Does anyone have one, and do they rate it?

Cheers!

Was checking it out - seems slightly heavy for the sum of its parts. Heavy wheels maybe?

Cheap enough to buy a new set though

Gets good reviews

I have been desperately trying to forget I saw this on sale. I've pretty much got my bike plans sorted for 2014-15 do not need another, repeat, do not need another....

hmmm. Half of me thinks its a cool eclectic build, half of me thinks its massive cost cutting masquerading as such. Ditching Shimano STIs will have saved a fortune and more than paid for Tektro hydraulics, that microshift will have cost pennies, 1 chain ring, no front mech and a square taper bottom bracket in 2014? (dont have an issue with square taper from an engineering perspective but it is about 6 standards back). Oh, and superhumanly heavy wheels, apparently (though theyre also used on the £1K Arkose 3).

I think the square taper BB is a massive plus point...

I won't run anything but a square taper BB... And wouldn't buy a bike I couldn't retro-fit one to.

Each to their own, I guess..

You're in a minority and I'm sure youre aware if that. It hugely limits choice of replacement/upgrade to either ghetto cheap or niche, and was no doubt done as another cost cutting measure. Like I said its one of the better BB standards performance-wise, and I've steered clear from bikes with BB30 etc but it smacks of discovering a warehouse full of ancient stock.
