What's it like? Fun? Pointless?

They are relatively inexpensive, for indoor trainer gear. I am curious.

Yeah, I got a Sterzo (sp?)... 2 actually, one dumb and one smart.

Not even opened the Smart one as just after I got it they suspended their use in races.... That and the fact I've not ridden Zwift for a while now. Sigh.... (to be continued!)

I used the non smart one for a while and found all that free movement at the front a little odd to be honest. Ymmv.

The GP Llama review is interesting though on the Smart one. Are they still not allowed in races, or certain races? The reason I ask is that they definitely give you an "unfair" advantage. I mean unfair in that 2 identical riders with the same hardware set up other than one using the Sterzo would give the rider with the Sterzo an advantage as he/she can basically take the racing like and ride a slightly shorter course...also means you could break away from other riders and move out of their "lane" so they can't draft you.

The idea is superb and would add another element of strategy into texting but either everyone has to have them to make it fair, or it's only allowed in some specific Sterzo races perhaps? Who knows?

I'll be keeping mine as I think the potential is huge if the take up is large enough and Zwift allow it's use.👍

I got the dumb one as I snapped some stem bolts doing a sprint so I wanted to have a bit more flexibility at the front rather than it just being rigid.

I have only used it twice on Repack Ridge (including on Wednesday) its fun but outside of a bit of fun I am not sure of the value. When pushing really hard I found I forgot to steer as well! So def something to get used to.

Still not allowed in races alas but yeah, it adds a bit of something different to the pedaling around at least and the "looser" front end feels much better even when not steering.

I have my wheel support on a bit of shiny board - does that count ?

I've got the smart one. Gives a bit more interest trying to ride the best lines, or going the wrong way down the road. You can do the pace partner rides and sit on the far right, accelerate past the group, pull over to the far left, ease off til you get to the back, go back to the left and repeat.

Well, it amused me.

Riding on the left in France:
