What with lockdown I have been riding locally lots.just lots of parks roads paths etc. So all good.it does not have to be the woods as I like street riding too but I am really missing being scared going very fast getting a little bit of air and the rush you get from this.i miss the buzz you get of having a day out.i wouldn't really call the symptoms bad from a mental health point of view and thankfully mine is fine but I am definitely missing something and it wont go away.

Yup. I'm missing rough chutes, fast descents and sculpted berms. Haven't ridden anywhere challenging since January. Yearning for the hills right now.

Yes and no. I used to live in an area with lots of MTB on the doorstep but don’t now. I just accept that fact

It does amaze me how many people travel miles just to ride a bike. I never thought I was particularly an Eco person, but quite clearly I am more than most because it’s always appeared daft to me to drive many hours to ride a bike, or even using and aeroplane

There is some scientific evidence to say this is a thing.was reading a medical report about it.quite interesting. It was about climbers and kept mentioning sensation seekers as a term.

Nope, I am riding more than I have in years as I now also ride in the week as I can ride when at work as I am working from home so can fit hours around it. Couldn't really do this when in office.

Nope, ridden nearly double my normal mileage this year.
Less far afield, but still riding the same stuff as normal.
I'm not into big jumps, etc. But I'm lucky to live in an area with decent single-track and good elevation. So plenty of nice ups and downs.

Nope. I live in a capital city and while I've not ridden anywhere near as many exciting trails this year the local stuff still exists. It's not amazing but riding bikes, anywhere, anyhow is always bloody brilliant.

Yes. That discussion on the BorrowdaleBash made me yearn to go to the Lakes.

Surely if you want to be scared just go for a ride on a busy road?

Sorry, but I'm off round the B Bash from home today, as the sun is out. As a balance, our business has zero income this year.......

Withdrawal symptoms? No, as I'm lucky to have a few decent trail centres near me, some good natural riding and the local trails aren't too bad. I ride a lot on my own too so that's not been too much of an issue.
What I have missed is not having the regular group rides with my mates at a bike park. They all live in England and I'm n Wales so we've been under different rules most of the time since September. Did manage 3 meets over the summer though but nothing like we normally do. Also haven't had a big week of riding at all this year, missing that massively.

Yeah, I'm missing riding - managed loads of riding this year until about 9 weeks ago when role changed at work and I'm now doing 12+ hours each day, so my brain is completely mushed after the work. Unsure when this will end, but it is looking like it will go in to January at least.

The bike is sitting neglected and according to Trainingpeaks, I've lost over half my fitness - certainly feels it! Quite happy to ride locally and I have been doing so since March, but my technical riding is really poor now as I'm so out of practice with it - when I do get to technical stuff I'm enjoying it but it isn't smooth, fast or confident, but that'll return when I get to more technical riding again.

Hopefully get out on the bike for a wee play this weekend, but suspect it won't be as good as it could be as my expectations of what I can do will way outweigh the reality!

Totally. Really missing the buzz that you get from a decent day out. I haven't been able to get out on the MTB since before the summer. Its even worse now we're heading into the winter and the window of riding is getting smaller each day. Zwift isnt the same, and my local riding non existent.
Defo making a resolution once all this is over to rejoin a club and ride with like minded folk.

I'm missing the South Downs hills, I've not been up there for a month, after the return of my rib ache/ general malaise plus an awful lot of grim weather. It's a bit nippy in the stiff north breeze today and there's now a bit of rain forecast around Petersfield/Hawkley at ~1300, but I'm trying to convince myself to head out for what might be a final hilly 100Km for this shit year...

Just feels a bit daunting when my last one was mid September before feeling rough, plus I flogged myself on the Zwift BRT ~22Km Seaside Sprint TT last night after work.

I am..............
Have some very good trails not too far from me, been great to get out there as much as possible since lockdown in March.
"At least I can go out on my bike if I can't do much else", I was thinking as we headed towards Lockdown 2.0 - day before lockdown I had An Off & have torn my UCL thumb ligaments.
So now I am definately getting biking withdrawl symptoms, as well as visiting hospitals far too much for my liking!

First World problem I know but I am missing my biking holiday. Been lucky the last half dozen years getting roadtrips across the best biking that Canada and USA has to offer with the GF. This year was supposed to be exploring North Carolina, Tennessee,Virginia, etc....

Still, local biking here in SW Scotland ain't so bad.

Missing dry trails and missing some of the group rides I would have had, but this thread and the one on not riding with injury actually make me grateful that I can ride the slippy, sloppy local hill.

I've been really enjoying riding round quiet lanes, mostly because I don't want to clean my bike though. I'd thought about heading to a trail centre or the South downs a few times between lockdowns but it's getting harder and harder to motivate myself to drive 90 minutes each way to ride when I can just get on my bike instead.
