I'm thinking of buying a pair of Straitline XT upgrade levers (2010 model) to fit to my LX M585 levers. The thing is the shop I was going to buy them from has said that their suppliers are claiming that they're only compatible with XT brake levers. The Straitline webiste shows the 2010 levers (I assume the XT ones) as being compatible with Shimano Saint, XT (pre '08), LX, Deore & Grimeca (bottom of the listing). I've had a reply from Straitline but I'm unsure what planet the writer's on; things are no clearer.
I was wondering whether anyone had fitted Straitline XT levers to non-XT units. As I recall all the older Shimano levers Deore, LX, Saint etc. (with the resevoir parallel to the bars) looked virtually identical.
afaik - Straitline still don't do a lever yet for the latest generation of Saint/XT/LX levers. Last time I asked they said it was in the pipeline (last year).
No, the current Strailine levers are for pre-2008 XT models which, AFAIK, are very similar to the levers of my LX M585 (old style with the resevoir parallel to the bars). I was wondering whether they'd take the Straitline XT levers.
IIRC the older (non servowave) levers are all pretty much the same.
So as long as the fluid reservoir is parallel to the bars you hould be ok.
I've had a look at Shimano Techdocs and the levers look pretty much identical.
