Only planning a temporary setup of my 29er with cyclocross bars for a fun race. Can I mount the levers on the tops? If I do will it be remotely rideable?

Flat bars are 22.2mm diameter (away from the stem clamp), whereas drop bars are 23.8mm. So the levers probably won't fit.
