On my way home last night at around 22.45 driving along the dam at the bottom of lower Rivington Reservoir, i glanced up towards the Pike as i usually do to see anyone is on a night ride, instead of the usual match head size white specks i saw big bright red light that looked like it was coming over the Pike hill, it was lighting up the cloud/mist around it like a halo.
Now to me it didn't look like filtered lamp used for hunting as it was to big and seeing as I've not been abducted or probed or got a crop circle in my hair, I'm at a loss as to what it was?
Any ideas?

Er.... the lights on the TV mast at Winter Hill are red, very high in the sky and often in cloud. It would have been mostly hidden behind the hill from where you were.
