You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The wait is killing me already ha.
Can't wait for next week. Hopefully they land on time and I can ride ASAP.
So anyone else preorder one?
Patiently waiting here as well!If you get yours anytime soon post some photos please. What color did you decide on?
I went for an orange 16" frame.
You heard any news regarding delivery yet?
Orange,that's gonna be sweet!
Sorry man I haven't heard/read anything yet...
Have you decided on a fork yet?
Pics when you get it
mosey - how many frames have you had this year? have you ridden any?
He might be catching up with you Rob LOL.
So what's new about this frame?
Rob I have had a commuter (the GT), a soul that snapped, and the 5 all bikes for different jobs. I had a Heckler and a Butcher, one went back as it was damaged on receipt and one didn't fit. That can't be helped.
Now I've sold everything to go to one bike. Having just completed a PGCE, which was damn hard, I've enjoyed tinkering in my spare time (of which was little).
Now it's completed and the house move is complete I can get out and ride.
Theres some pot/kettle action on this thread 😉
PGCE is nowt compared to the real deal 😉 What subject? Are you in Sheffield? Just seems like you swap bikes more than me
lol at Rob's remark 🙂
The 5 was meant to be the stayer but the other half got some bad news and we moved to be nearer to her family.
I sold the 5 to buy the hard tail and put some money away.
PGCE was in primary education mate. Yeah I grew up around teachers so I've seen the strains over the last few years.
It's worth it though I just have to accept the politics around it.
Is the frame in that pic white, raw or is it primer?
Looks white to me, it's one of the photo's Mike released many months ago.
Slowrider - how are you building yours up? I've got a white frame coming and I'm going with x fusion slants (probably at 140mm), shimano xt/slx drivetrain, hope brakes and pro2 eve/stans flow ex wheelset.
Got a feeling they aren't coming this week.
Do we know they are definitely in the country?
Really hoping they are coming this week, it'd suck to go off to the lakes without a bike to ride! I am remaining positive, can't hurt.
Good point, positive it is.
Hopefully mike will be in touch, thought we'd hear something on the 29th.
Any news anyone?
God I'm impatient ha!
Has mike been in touch with anyone? Wouldn't mind knowing if the frames have landed yet.
It's tough this being bike less lark.
From Facebook today....
Good news for all the Dialled Bikes Alpine pre-order customers who have been waiting patiently for their frames to arrive. Just had notification that they are clearing customs this week and will be delivered to DBHQ on Monday AM. Customers can therefore expect to have them by Thursday/Friday next week (overseas customers during the following week). Not all frames are pre-ordered, so we will have stock ready to send out towards the end of next week.
Damn that's this weekends trip cancelled. Ah well.
I've got a 16" orange frame on order.
started picking up bits for the build zee mech and shifter, Flow and hope wheels.
Xfusion slant is top of my fork choices at the moment. Not going to be fully built for a few months though...
Not long now. I really need to get out and ride.
From Mike on Twitter:-
@DialledBikes: Waiting for a truck containing lots of Mk3 Dialled Bikes Alpine frames to arrive!
Mine is sat in a box next to me atm.
What headset do people recommend for a normal 1 1/8 steer in a 44mm headtube.
I also need to order a dropper post (30.9 correct?) do I need a bleed kit for a reverb?
Mine should be here tomorrow 🙂
Get some pics of the frame up please. Still not seen any of the final version yet.
I've gone for a Hope pick and mix but my bottom cup is for tapered forks.
Get some pics of the frame up please.
+1
I will take some when I get home, in the obligatory messy garden 🙂
So with a hope pick 'n mix set up anyone know if a 2 for the top and a B for the bottom work for a normal fork in this frame?
Also anyone interested in a Mk1/Prototype battered Alpine frame 🙂
I got the top cup 2 so that's right for 1 1/8 top.
Bottom you can just get the standard 1.5 lower and the reducer adapter, then you are set if you change to taper in the future.
That's bottom cup H by the way and then you would need the adapter which is about £8.
This one:
cool, thanks for your help I will order it now so I can build it up for the weekend.
What colour and size did you go for by the way?
Have you looked at the frame? How's it look quality wise etc?
I have a large orange frame
from a quick look, looks pretty good to me, paint is a nice slightly metalled orange (paint looks better quality than the on-one's i've owned) welds look OK.
When I open it properly I will take photos
Ok great, seems funny paying £400 for something I've not seen finished or even the colour 😮
True
I've owned a few dialled bikes now (PA 853, PA, Love/Hate and Alpine) so I know they fit and I am happy with how they ride, hence I didn't worry about as I've never been disappointed 🙂
Yeah, I had a Prince Albert and loved it. Plus Mike is a great guy so no worries here.
Can't wait for mine.
I'll probably be kicking myself shortly for doing the pre-ordering thing.
Messiah why mate? It saved you £95.
Ooops... I missed out the word NOT in the above statement!
It should have read...
"I'll probably be kicking myself shortly for NOT doing the pre-ordering thing."
Ha I probably should have figured that out!
I'm getting far too excited waiting for it to turn up... Considering all i will have is a frame and mech.
Ha, I have absolutely everything sat waiting except the frame.
I'm going to build over the winter so Can buy all the bits gradually, have another bike to use for now.
I'll buy one when my Dialled PA (mk1) breaks beyond repair.
(Might have to wait a while)
The Alpine rides very differently to the PA, so why not treat yourself 🙂
You will have to post pics, of you have all the parts you should have it done by the weekend moseymtb 😉
The Alpine rides very differently to the PA, so why not treat yourself
Tempting, but I'll hang onto the PA for now. I need it to race the Fort Bill DH Endurance again next year - missed out (just!) on double figures with a crash (and broken arm as a result).
Where are the pics?????? 🙂
photo doesn't do the finish justice to be honest it a nice bright orange 🙂
all looks nicely finished to be, first new frame I've had in years as I tend to buy second hand
Looks great 🙂 I'm sat looking at the front door! I jump every time I hear a car!
What happened to the Alpine sticker on the top tube? I love those graphics 🙁
That's the only stickers it came with, and it was pre-applied.
Not sure why Mike dropped the specific model name sticker, unless he forgot.....
Mike mentioned new style stickers were due from the sticker shop so maybe the top tube one has changed too.
He says new stickers will be sent out to customers. 🙂
I really love the old graphics...as mike knows.. 🙂
so curious to see the new ones
Yeah I was actually happy when the stickers didn't turn up ha, I love the gothic ones. Especially the Alpine one in the top tube 🙁
lovely looking frame that!
Looking sweet, glad I went with the orange, hopefully mine will be waiting for me when I finish work!
Mines not here yet booooooooooo got to go out now too. Guarantee it will come 5 mins after I leave.
When I got my first Alpine, the 'Alpine' stickers arrived later if I remember rightly as were delayed? I think. Mike will confirm I'm sure!
doesn't look like they come with name stickers anymore, if you look at the other frames on the dialled website.
I'll try and pick up an old one off Mike as I love the lettering. Sad eh
next question, anyone found somewhere with a 30.9 400mm reverb right hand in stock for less than full rrp?
If not i will get it from hibike.de and wait
Brilliant - city link left mine with a 'neighbour' on a different street!
Why on earth would they do that!!
No new shiny frame for me today 🙁
Lets see it then!
Sweeeet, think im going to mount the frame on the wall until I have the parts, I'll only keep sneaking out to have a look at anyway!
Come on Winch more pics please.
Mine went back but the replacement should arrive next week 🙂
Mike really is a top guy and his bikes are brilliant.
Mosey - why did it go back? And does anyone know what the frame weighs? Curious to see how it compares with the Bfe etc..
Slight issue on a weld I spotted. Probably wasn't an issue but Mike offered a replacement without hesitation.
The frame is brilliant and Dialled frames fit me perfect.
Can't wait to get it built and ride it.
I want to see a proper pic of the white one.
My goodness they look good in orange. Might be tempted by that colour if I get my Mk1 re-sprayed again. Also really like the new headtube. Might look into the possibility of getting an XX44 welded in place of the one that's on mine atm, if the availability of 1 1/8 forks becomes an issue!!
I've now had a couple of great rides on mine, one down sticks pass on Helvellyn, the second a quick blast around LLandegla and loving it so far. Big thanks to Mike for getting the frame to me (where I was staying in the Lakes) in time so that I could build it up in the holiday cottage and get some riding in before the end of my holiday! Luckily I'd managed not to forget any components when packing my suitcase!

Detailing on the headtube looks superb.

I like the gothic graphics but will be interested to see the updated ones.

Hope V4's proved themselves worthy on Helvellyn and feel amazing.

Mincing XC tyre was removed as soon as I had access to a compressor!

My mother always says, "Don't ride your 160's at Llandegla or you'll not feel the benefit". On her advice I'll be dropping them down to 140 very soon. Great feeling fork though and suit the frame very nicely.
[/img]
I actually like the simplicity of just having the 203mm rotor without an adaptor, it looks cleaner and setting the brake up was a doddle.

The finished article, well almost. I'll be swapping my SS nano's on once I can remove them from my old cranks 😡 and getting a KS Lev on once funds allow.

Summit of Helvellyn 😀

LLandegla, lots of fun but should have listened to mother. Also mangled my rear mech because I thought I'd risk running the chain too short. Clutch mech and new chain now on order.
Anyhow, thanks again to Mike for a fantastic frame and great service. I've not quite got it set up how I want it just yet but initial impressions are it is so much sturdier than my Soul was and is much more the kind of bike I want to be riding. Landing jumps the lack of flex is much more confidence inspiring and so far I've not found it to be uncomfortable. One thing I was very pleased about is it climbs well even with the 160's on. I'll give some more impressions of it once I've spent some more time on it 😀
That looks great winch.
Can't wait to get mine built and ridden this weekend.
Looks amazing in both white and orange.
That does look good! I'd be happy with a lower BB - it's the one detail I'd change with my Soul if I could.
looks good. Mine won't be that shiney as I will be re-using all my old bits 🙂
Thinking about not bothering with the stinger as a double + clutch mech should keep the chain on.
Ive gone clutch mech and double and bash upfront so hopefully won't need a stinger.
They are cheap and work well though so i'm happy to stick one on if needed.
Nice to see the frames getting built up. That white one really does look cool and I'm glad we went for that colour in the end.
Regarding stickers, the "proper" stickers arrived today, but they're about 200% too big! Sticker maker has been notified and anyone with a Mk3 Alpine who wants to upgrade from Gothic stickers to the newer ones at a later date, I will send them out free of charge.
There won't be an Alpine name sticker on these frames. It's engraved on the seat stay brace, so no need. Eventually, I want all my frames to have zero Dialled Bikes stickers on them and just have the Reynolds tubing stickers - as I hear they have magic properties (especially the 853 one) which prevent rust, so we need to keep those 😉
Thanks to everyone who pre-ordered and if anyone else fancies one now they have seen them, I still have about 60 frames left out of the batch so get in touch.
