Yeah, im a bsturd and should be paying my tax, but anyway...
Was contemplating buying a bike in france or germany and then claiming the VAT back. Did similar decades ago buying a kayak in norway, but never done it in the eurozone.
Presumably i need to find a shop that does the paperwork and them get some form filled in at eurotunnel customs....
Anyone done it?
I am aware of someone doing it recently for some Telemark bindings from Norway, but not EU.
No idea if this works for purchases made elsewhere during your holiday and not just in the shops situated there, but in the Eurotunnel terminal now they have self-service machines to enter/scan receipts and claim tax rebates for purchases made there and then.
Or you could just kick it around the car park a bit to scuff it up so it's not 'new'? Maybe a bit of sandpaper to the cranks to simulate heel rub 😀
Yes my wife.
We were visiting family last weekend and just had to go to Printemps (under duress), anyway she bought as skirt & blouse and some other things on sale. You have to ask for a detax form. If it's large shop/organisation they will have the facilities to do so it's easy for them. On our return through to the channel tunnel terminal we just scanned the bar code and the tax was deposited into her account. Easy!
They should reduce the tax the greedy ......
How does this work though? If you're getting the tax back, aren't you also simultaneously highlighting that you need to pay the UK version on entry?

Technically yes, should then get a tax request from HMRC. She has done this on several trips back home. Still waiting on the request. If HMRC are a funded like the rest of the UK public funded institutions then we may never get the request.
