You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Thinking of doing this in the next couple of years. Any travel tips?where did you fly to and how did you get to the start town/return to start after event etc. how was the event over all.
Sorry, I've never been to Iowa
There's a guy on the Fat Lad at the Back Community FB page done it a few times - a search on there should bring it up.
The pictures and stories look amazing, sounds an incredible event.
Never done it.
Did GOBA - the equivalent ride in Ohio - many decades ago.
Brilliant fun. The scale of it was remarkable: 3500 cyclists moving from camp ground to camp ground every day.
Did it with friends and it would be a lot more fun that way.
The heat knocked me for six even though I'd already been living in Ohio for a year or more.
Make sure your luggage is easy to spot. That's one big pile of bags to sort through.
Get yourself on the Social Distance Cycling Club on Facebook. Its a massive and absolutely fantastic group that's been really active from the start of and during lockdown. It has loads of members in Iowa and loads more from all over the US who do RAGBRAI every year. Theres some great people on there
If you ask for advice on there, you'll get everything you need to know
I've said I'm definitely going to do it one year. It looks brilliant!
.
I’ll give the social distance cycling club thanks for the heads up.
RAGBRAI looks like a really fun event and really well organised but getting to and from it seem a bit daunting.
Question:
Is it the same route every year ?
Has the 2023 route been announced ?
(I think the route on the RAGBRAI website is 2022).
GOBA changes its route every year. Some years are relatively close to a main airport, and others aren't.
Different route every year. I think entries are available from start of November not sure but I think route is announced then.
