I've not managed to do it yet, as things always seem to conspire against me, the last time I entered it was cancelled due to bad weather, the year before that I saw some of the riders returning across the Quantocks and they were really suffering. It starts from Porlock this year, which should mean less road riding than the previous Cannington start, but either way its not going to be easy.

Is this the BHF one? I've not done it but I've heard it's tough, although some of that is probably people being caught out by the sheer hilliness of the area. The organiser posts on here as Singletracksurfer, if that's any use.

It is a toughie but suprisingly the majority of riders attempted the full 100km distance - and most of them made it.

REALLY bad weather in the week up to the event meant a few changes to the route on the day e.g. road over the back of the moors, so it was made slightly easier.

The route is designed so that you can drop the distance to 75km near the end of the 100km if it is too much.

NOTE: The last 25km of the 100km is very tough.

p.s. They don't lie about the hills.

As SingleTracksurfer said. First time I'd ridden in the area and really enjoyed it, so I'd recommed it. I was down to do the 75km event but felt okay at the last checkpoint so did the extra 25km, which I thought was the best bit but was also hard going (problems with chain suck, that's my excuse!). I didn't particularly train for it, just tried to do a few longer, slower rides to build my endurance and take it steady on the day.

yeah the last 25km is great fun. I love the descent to Porlock.

You WILL be using the granny ring a lot towards the end so its worth taking some lube!!
