Out of touch, so Bluegrass equals some of the No-Fuss events then ?

Heard it was the last Macavalanche and DH enduro last year.

Anyways.... attach the tyres and wheels to an Orange 5 and you will be fine 🙂
Be carefull trying to follow locals, they tend to take short cuts over small cliffs 🙂

Don't have a fry up in the caff before you race, it will slow you down.

Should be heading up, signed up but having a dab of car trouble which should be sorted beforehand... Not quite the same as the original macca, multiple stages now but apparently "mostly uplift" so think I will wang the mightiest tyres I can find on it...

Just waiting for Fiona to tell me if there's a hardtails cat, in Ace's honour 😉 (no I'm not riding my rigid)

Northwind, I thought it was just one stage and that was down the mountain, Is there a few stages then? Will they let you have a practice run do you know?

3 stages this time- 2 standard, 1 mass start. Absolutely no pre-race access, no trackwalks or practice. Unless your name is Barnes, possibly.

Hang on, here's competitor notes:

Hello Enduro Fans!

Thanks very much for getting involved in the Bluegrass this year. After a wee wander around Glencoe yesterday I know you are going to be in for a treat. There will be some bogs, some tussocks here and there, a few patches of snow and some rubbly bits too - definitely all in the name of a good time on the bikes!

With just a few more days to go, it's time for me to remind you of all the important bits. A good place to start is to send you to have a wee recap of the rules and what is required of you. Follow this link:

http://www.nofussevents.co.uk/event/Bluegrass-EnduroTour/2982/

Please don't forget that this race requires you to wear a Full Face helmet.

You won't need to carry too much in your bags as the event is mostly chairlift accessed. I do still definitely recommend having something to drink and something to eat with you, some basic tools and puncture repair/spare tube and pump and your mobile phone in case of emergency. The weather can change quite quickly in the mountains too, so you will probably appreciate having a jacket in your bag, or somewhere to put a jacket if you need to take it off.

Registration will be from 8am in the Glencoe Mountain Resort Cafe. This will also be open from 8 for breakfast. The chairlift will open at 9am at which point you will be able to upload to Stage 1. The stage will open as close to 10am as possible. Riders will be set off in random order at 30 seconds intervals. Stage 2 will open around 12noon. Again, riders will race this in random order. We will then aim to get the Mass Start organised for a 3.30 - 4pm start. This will be gridded according to your times from the previous 2 stages. The winners are the riders with the fastest time over all the stages.

The courses will be marked with tapes and flags. Where there are 2 pieces of tape side by side or 2 banners side by side (wind dependent) this is a gate and you must pass between them. Where there are single pieces of tape or flags, this is a guideline to the direction of the course - pick your line.

Our fabulous sponsors Bluegrass have provided some fantastic helmets and body armour for prizes, plus some other great goodies too.

My final thing to say is just a wee word of warning about the roads on Sunday. There is a sportive on the A82 around Loch Ness on Sunday, with the road being closed in parts. If you are travelling from the North these may affect your plans. Here are the details:

ROAD NORTH BOUND SOUTH BOUND

Full road closure 05:20 – 08:25 05:45 – 08:25

Full road closure 05:00 – 09:20 06:05 – 09:20
Invermoriston (Dalcataig road junction) to Fort Augustus (A82/B862 junction)
Full road closure 04:50 – 09:50 06:25 – 09:50

Format used to be.....aim for the ski gates (red poles) down the mountain, you must pass through the marked ski gates.

However, how you get from gate to gate is down to you, doing a blind run following locals is not good as they jump off small cliff things because they know the lie of the land 🙂

Even more scary is trying that on a rigid bike with v-brakes, although did put a few big bikes and 5's in place 🙂

Format appears to have changed, at least 1 Barnes will podium...again 🙂

I burst me headset jumping things when we had saturday to mince down and go over the bars and swim about in a bog of gritty bog water, with ice floaters on it.

Gutted to miss last years rigid raid on the mountain, had even cut down the seatpost to enhance my crap ability of riding in snow, something we don't get much in my part of Somerset. Will try for next year, back on radar 🙂

On a serious note last time i did it, Hans Dampf on 700c track wheels was pretty good, v-brakes not so good, the v-brakes had a hand in scaring some big bike riders as i sailed past because i couldn't slow down.

Cracking event, more so with helicopters.

Northwind old chap, rip the mountain a new one ! 🙂

I like the second guessing of this thing. Like, for snow I'd whack on my hillbillies, they're awesome in snow and mud. But absolutely crap on things that aren't squishy. So how much snow? How much of the stages will just be choosing your own adventure across heather and bogs. Haven't a clue 😆 So you just have to wing it and hope really.

If it wasn't for the too much snow last year.... i would have made the race...even though i can't ride in snow, because the MacAvalanche is the only time i have ridden in snow 🙂

Going by the tyre tracks 2years back....some ****ers went round the gates because of the big hole hiding under a foot of water because the top layer of moss was chopped through.

Putting a 29er into a hole deeper than the axle at speed and swimming in frozen water wondering what just happened....

Damn i missed that last year 🙂 my heavily scored rims didn't
