Unbelievable sunny weather and well organised.

Man there are some fast people. And on the downhills some insanely fast people whizzing down single track lanes. Hats off to them but proper scary

It was warm!.....and as you say very well organised (so many marshalls),although I did have to refuse the feta and spinach pie at the feed station as I think I may have lost it up the first hill.
My first gold award ever.

Yup, tres chaud, as our Gallic friends would say.
Extremely well organised, and everyone was very cheerful.

I was doing well and on course for a silver, maybe gold. But got a massive hamstring cramp on the steep hill out of Tavistock. It kept recurring every 10 minutes or so for the rest of the ride. It was worse if I stopped pedalling, so I just kept on going!
7:52 in the end 😕

We'll done on the gold, I did 4hr 40 which is silver for my veteran class. I was well pleased but proper died on the last 15 miles.

Ajantom I may have seen you towards the end walking up a hill? I was one of the people dying at about 5mph

Now, I'm proud of the fact that I didn't walk any of the hills. May have sat in bottom gear and spun, but I didn't walk 😉

Took a year out and spectated this year while my mrs and her friend did it. Looked hot and hard work.

Think I had a place, but never received communication from the organisers. Went road racing instead.

While on a MTB ride, on the short distance from Warren House to Bennett's Cross along the route I counted about four gel wrappers in the road. Not great TBH.

If so that's pretty poor. On the whole route I only saw two part gel wrappers and everyone got a big talking to at the start about litter.

Like always probably a couple of idiots.

I saw 5 or 6 on the whole route & few dropped bananas. Not great, but considering 4000+ people then it could be worse. I suspect missed pockets rather than deliberately dropped.

I hope that was the case given the race briefing made such a point about not dropping stuff. The organisation was so good I wouldn't be surprised to find they had some clean up plan afterwards.

Fair enough - I must have caught a bad bit then. It was on a long bit of straight so maybe a sudden concentration of desperate calorific intake and missed pockets.

I was marshalling at the junction between Rundlestone and Two-Bridges. Was a great event from our perspective, the consensus was that pretty much eveyone enjoyed it!

not sure my wife is enjoying today...

I found it quite interesting from a spectating point of view having ridden it 5 out of the last 6 years. While the 95% of drivers and riders were really good, the 5% really are idiots.

Mmmm I know. On the fast downhiill coming into Dunsford we had a car driving uphill partly on our side of the road. Looked like he was trying to intimidate us on purpose.
I suppose 5% might be considered better than the national average for idiots!

3rd time of doing the Grande and managed a silver time of 7:06 which is an hour faster than last year. I was fighting off cramp in the last 15 miles but that is down to not enough really tough long rides in the last few months. It is just the best organised Sportive I have had the pleasure of doing. the marshal's are without question the best I have experienced, the food is good and plentiful and the event village was the best I have ever seen it this year. Aim for next year is to break into the 6 hour times.

Brilliant event and well organised and marshalled again as ever. I saw a few bits of rubbish but it was no where near as much cr@p dropped on the route as seen on the Fred Whitton. I imagine there is a lot of missed pockets....but also plenty of lazy ****ts!

was good to see no smashes this year on the route....seemed to have seen quite a few over the last 4 or 5 years.
