I guess the title says it all really. I’m looking at a new set of brakes for a new build and can’t decide which ones I should buy.

I currently run M7000 with a 203mm rotor and sintered pads up front and 180mm rotor and organic pads in the rear. If it makes any difference I’m fairly hefty, coming in at over 115kg with not much in the way of kit on.

Looks like I could pick up a set of M7000/M8000 for about £110/£140 or £180/£220 for the M7120/M8120.

M7120/M8120 seem pretty limited on availability at the minute - a couple of places saying they're expecting stock in July, which isn't sounding too hopeful given that we're a couple of days into August

Yeah, I’ve seen the M7120 in stock with a few of the bigger German stores so it looks like I could get my hands on them. Just need to decide if they are worth the extra money over the two pot brakes.

If your a big lad, look at Deore 4pots.

£100 from zee Germans.

Definitely a step up in power in my experience.

I've also found the Shimano organic pads struggle with heat and heavy braking - I've a set of Kevlar UberBike pads on there and they are much better than stock for power, noise and feel.
