Evaning

I have a 2019 Trek Slash Carbon that is currently winging its way back to Trek.

Just wondering if anyone has changed the bearings on theirs at all? specifically the main pivot.

If so, how hard were the bearings to re-fit? mine has always had a tiny bit of play in the swingarm i could never trace to a specific pivot if you really wailed on the rear wheel. its never creaked, moaned or made any odd noises. nothing short of awesome in fact.

I've come to change the bearings and have all the proper presses for the bearing size (3803) etc. driveside main pivot bearing goes in with a tiny amount of resistance, but still needed to be pressed in.
Non-driveside bearing... well, that just fell in. You can literally push it in and pull it out with your finger completely, no tools needed. There are no obvious wear marks, but the hole is to my mind out of tolerance.

The original bearings are still spinning so have not seized or are anywhere close to that, just starting to get a bit gritty sounding. They are also heavily corroded on the outside surface which suggests there has been a gap on both sides for water to sit on (not the edges where the seals sit, the actual face that should be an interference fit in the frame)

So, original question, has anyone else tried this and found the same or were yours a proper fit on both sides?

its off for warranty now, but just pre-empting a "thats normal" response

My main pivot bearings need pressed in. They go in easily but not so easily that I can push in or pull out by hand.

Hopefully they’ll sort you out if it’s always been like that (hoping you queried it some time ago). In the absolute worst case scenario using bearing retainer (e.g Loctite 638) will likely do a grand job

Thought i'd update this and let you know that Trek replaced the mainframe no questions asked.

So now i have a half brand new Trek Slash frame. Nice.
