Search led me to a closed thread from  3 years ago.

and this from 2 years ago-Why no E-bike roof carriers?

Apologies if there is a more up-to-date one.

New job so no van option anymore, wife's car will have to do.

So, what are the best car rack options that can take 2 e-bikes? Would prefer real user experience over online reviews if possible.

Thanks

What  car? Noseweight / towball limit varies a lot.

Probably all to do with weight limits (and the fact most people will actually struggle to lift a full fat eeb onto a roof!)

I know when I used a roof rack, putting the big (FR/DH not E!) bike on the rack was actually beyond the official limit of the carrier. (I used to also put an additional strap across). You'll probably have to do some digging around the likes of Thule and Mont Blanc to find out what limits they set for their various carriers, and what the weight limit is for your car.

Even an Evoque may not have that big a roof load capacity.

The Inno tyre hold 2 (has a short wheelbase limit tho) and Pendle ErgoRack roof carriers take up to 23kg

Real life Thule Velospace user. 2 Turbo Levo including 700w battery or 2 e-fatbikes inc 630w battery. Rack rated to 75 kg and has tilt function. Used on a removable towbar. All fine.

I use an ancient atera strada. Its  4 bike carrier so handled 2 e-bikes no problem. When we load it up fully I drop the batteries out of the bikes and stick them in the boot. 30 seconds for the canyon, about 2 mins on the whyte but still not that much hassle.

That looks good, but I am sure my bike weighs around 45kg  (more with coil shock and cushcore) and the wife's hard tail is a bit less.

as above, Thule velospace XT - absolutely fine for 2 full fat e-bikes. drove down to the alps with my XL levo and my mates XL mondraker level (the heaviest e-bike in the world) with weight capacity to spare. the racks are incredibly sturdy, to the point where i can stand on it when attached to the car with no issues (17st for reference)

but I am sure my bike weighs around 45kg

i'd be surprised if it were, as that about twice the weight of a normal full fat e-bike  at c 50lbs

Oh, I will check again 🙂 was from memory.

"E-160 RSX pushing towards 27kg" is the weight of the new version of my bike so yes it will way under 70kg for both.
