That price would be hard to beat for an alloy seatpost, let alone a carbon one. Don't relish the thought of a sharp bit of plastic up the jacksie!

Given my recent experience with cheap eBay carbon, have a *good* look at it because its probably a reject from QA (still battling a broken fork from ebay)

What's the worst that could happen?

@thisisnotaspoon, my innocence, that is surely worth more than £14?

Is the saving of 50g and £25 over an alloy post really worth the risk of carbon shards being embedded into your arse 30 miles from the middle of nowhere?

I’m not sure the location matters. If you are 30miles from home. Then getting it stuck in the leg might be a problem too.

Got one on my road bike more for looks than weight saving. Only did 60 or 70 miles on it before I lent the bike to a friend. Its not imploded yet but not had enough use to prove it either

Bikediscount have a good selection of branded carbon and alloy posts .. Granted the carbon ones start at around £50 but I'd rather pay a bit more.. Alloy ones from about a tenner ...

A £13 carbon seat post off ebay... Really??

Really??

Ive got two....im 86kg. one has done the NC500, Xdurowales, an 8 day trip off road in the alps in 18 months. Also Yorkshire true grit. Its strong, and light. I had no hesitation in buying another.

I've had one on my road bike for about three years now it seems solid and works nicely enough, so the fiereyness of my inevitable death will be spectacular apparently...

Thus far though I'm moderately smug for not paying six times more to have a logo.

This is making me feel far less worried about those £50 Ti seatposts I keep looking at...

Cheap carbon hmm do your research look at sellers feedback, plenty of forums online you can always check back years Google it,buy from a more reputable seller like Ican.

So really cheap £13 🙄 maybe ok ? but it's often fake branded stuff that's likely bad ( the ones you hear more about). I've had some carbon riser bars years ago off eBay from Hong Kong proved to be very strong & light.

Nowadays I personally use Easton carbon bars often in sales for a good price & hammer them with confidence,my Ican & Carbonspeed rims are holding up well two years of (ab)-use on my bikes.

I like my £50 China titanium seatpost the slight flex is comfortable & I do bikepacking so seatpack could rub etc, over three years on a 180g 350mm post that's been well used off-road.

Unknown? Like is it tested, whats it rated to? Is it fake or reject?

Kind of rational really. Again for a 50g saving over an alloy one sounds it depends if you are willing to bin it on arrival if your not happy.

I had a 30.9 one which looked very similar to those in the OP but from a different seller (same graphics - which incidentally rubbed off almost immediately).  Creaked but seemed okay. No noticeable flex.

Didn't break but after 3 months or so the noise got worse I got scared of getting pierced in the gooch so got rid.

Even I am wary of cheap carbon after my recent aliexpress drop bar experience (I pulled them apart with my bare hands grrrr)

I've got a genuine Van Nic Ti seatpost for sale for those wanting one...

Had no issues with Chinese carbon posts either in many years of use. I avoid the badged fakes and just buy a plain post.

I've got one that came in a frame that's similar, albeit with a layback clamp. It's been fine, it's not particularly light (>200g isn't really light), and it's gained slight indentations from the seat clamp, but it hasn't exploded and killed me to death, the clamp hasn't slipped at all, it hasn't crushed the carbon or ti saddle rails I've put in it. The bolt heads have rusted a bit, worst thing I can say.

I'd probably buy from Ali Express rather than eBay, you'll find literally hundreds of people selling the same post.

Survivorship bias?

Two things I won't buy cheap - seatposts and handlebars. YMMV, of course, but I value my arse and teeth too much to skinflint here!
