My Avid Juicy 7's are giving up on me and need to be replaced. Can anybody recommend/seen any outstanding deals on front and rear disc brakes at the moment. They will be fitted to a On-One Inbred (built with the help of the STW classifieds cheer guys), so mainly xc use.

Looking at spending aroung £150-£200 tops. Any disc brake recommendations also gratefully received

Thanks,

Andi

They are at my LBS at the moment, back is leaking and the front pistons are going. They are ancient so think it best to bite the bullet and invest in a new set.

Just wondered as some brakes can't be serviced. I replaced all the seals and pistons in my mono M4's and paired with a set of Kevlar pads they are like new.

These are considerably better than Juicy 7s in my opinion, and well under your budget:

Thanks for the advice and recommendations.

The Magura's at Noahsark look a good deal. I'll check out Merlin and Actionsports as well.

Thanks,

Andi

For your budget, my money would be going on the Elixers from Merlin, already mentioned

Just ordered new XT from bike 24 for £175, if they are half as good as XTR, they will be superb 😮

My default opinion about all components is you need a good reason not to choose Shimano. My XTs are six years old and going strong. One bleed on a back brake when I accidentally pushed the piston all the way out, no other problems whatsoever.

SLX full set are nearly half price on Merlin...

Try www.bikecomponents.de they were cheaper the other day but had no stock at the time; this may have changed.

Mate I would swap you a used avid 203 disk for an avid 160.
I have those elixirs in 160/160 and they have stunning stopping power.

Clarks Skeletal - comes with 2 sets of pads and a pair of colour matched grips. Did the Clik24 with 'em and hard to fault for XC. Change the mounting bolts though, because the supplied ones have are fromage.
