As per thread title really. Just curious as to whether anybody runs 27+ with normal sized 27 on the rear. If so, what’s it like?
Yup, built up this a few weeks back.
Surly Instigator 1.0 (nominally a 26" frame, but as it's Surly bigger wheels fit fine) and a Surly Krampus fork.
27.5 X 2.25 at the back and 27.5 X 3 at the front.
It's my new favourite bike!

I tried it on my rigid singlespeed, with a skinny 26" rear. It felt a bit different front to back. But the geometry was probably a bit rubbish, being a 26" frame and so on.
Not 650b/b+ but 29/29+ on my Unit. I haven't tried it with a suspension fork but it's a game changer for rigid riding imo.
Yes again, on a rigid singlespeed - again - with a normal 26" wheel out back, erm, again. It gave a fair bit of front end grip, but made things feel a little ponderous steering wise, but I quite liked it. A bit like having a short-travel suspension fork with improved roll over.
It'd probably still be on there, but I built up a full b+ Sonder Transmitter.
Yeah but no but. Dekerf 26er, rigid SS, 2.4 on the back, 3.0 on a Hugo on the front. The forks are on the shorter side, and the steering was very quick, so slowing it down a touch with the big front was no bad thing. Love the bike, so much fun.
Jones with 2.4 on the back and 3.0 on the front, rigid again but geared Handling is top notch, and the bigger front doesn't put much of dent in that.
Both bikes can be ridden harder and faster with a big front. Ticks boxes for me! Don't know if I'd bother on a hardtail, though.
@badlywired - uncanny, my experience convinced me there was something in plus tyres so I got a Genesis Tarn frame and now have 27.5+ on it (both ends). The steering on my Scapin tended to grab on tarmac, probably not enough trail for a fat tyre. OK on dirt.
Having run 29+ (3” Minions) on a Trek Stache I decided to try a mix on my Production Privee OKA and went for a 2.4” High Roller rear and 2.8” Minion front.
It it was ok but not the same as full plus and did feel a bit imbalanced so I’ve swapped the front to a 2.6” Minion and am happier with this.
