As per title really. I've been looking for a commuter / mess about exploring bike and the Plug range seems good. I've scoured the web and can't find any reviews of the 2016 Alu with carbon fork models. Anybody here own one, ridden one or know anything about them? They look decent enough and the 4 looks like decent value at the moment.

I've got the plug 3 and I'm happy with it. Unfortunately I can't give much insight in how it compares because it's my first drop handle bike. The main reasons I picked it were cost, look and the fact that it can handle the dodgy roads round here, with a bit of gravel and bridle way action. Horrible colour though.

Is the three the beige one? Looks kinda 60's sports car, I quite like it. Thanks for the feedback. I've been looking at the charge, a Genesis Vagabond, Croix De Fer and Transition Rapture (just because I already have a Trans AM). The charge seems best value all round, probably due to it being the only Alu one.

Yep it's the beige one. To be honest the colour has grown on me and it's certainly a bit more stealth.
I did have a short run out on a Genesis CDA , and the plug felt more comfortable to me but that could just be sizing.

I recently purchased a 2016 Plug 4, but it's also my first drop bar bike so I have little basis for comparison. I like it a lot though, and got it for the same reasons you are considering - mostly commuting with the option of exploring some other stuff here and there.

The 42c Maxxis tyres seem a bit OTT and I admit I wasn't convinced at first, at least not on the roads. However after taking it down a gravelly type 1 cycle route one evening they started to win me round, they just let you keep smashing along! The rims are tubeless ready so eventually I see myself getting some Schwalbe G Ones but for the time being I'm very happy with it, especially for the price that it's currently available at.
