I’m looking at changing my Bronson V2 to a Nomad 4 and want to know what it pedals uphill like. The reviews say it’s amazing, but would like to see what a owner of one says.

Thanks Chris

A friend has just recently got one and I had a quick go on it last weekend. It was only for 5 mins or so, so not enough time to really get to know the bike. However I was quite surprised by how well it peddled given the bikes intention and capabilities. Obviously it’s not a Xc whippet due to the geometry but it’s more than happy spinning away (most of our rides tend to be fire road climbs anyway). There was very little pedal bob even in open mode.

My friend comes from a nomad 3 and another friend also has the new nomad 4 coming from a nomad 3 and both say the new version peddles better.

Have they moved off MK3s with air shocks to the build option with a coil shock?

I ask, because when I moved back to coils from air - on my Reign - it pedalled better because of the improved midstroke support. It feels considerably snappier now - with the correct sag and some volume spacers in the monarch...I could stomp through a lot of the travel just by pedalling hard. 😯 Totally different beast now.

I have one.

Don't get too hung up on "does it pedal uphill" any bike will do that just fine if it's the right shape and light enough, it's having an urgency and support for pumping and popping on flatter stuff where efficiency matters, I can confirm the n4 is very good in this respect for what it is.

Went from a 5010cc to a capra, to unintentionally ending up with an n4. Had a decision to make, sell the capra or n4, I ended up selling the capra. The n4 just had a more playful, fun, efficient character than the capra, definitely has some of the fun of the 5010 about it.

Forget all that though, are you looking for a good trail bike? Or are you looking for a 1 bike solution for riding about and sending proper stuff pretty often?

@deanfbm

How did you find the sizing between the Capra and the N4? I had a large Capra and i'm going to have a go on a large N4 tonight.

On paper the look pretty similar.

Cheers guys. Deanfbm - although I love my Bronson, it’s not as good on the bigger stuff. I had a Nomad 2 before this and lovely the way it jumped. It was also 35lb, so you couldn’t do 30k rides on it. The N4CC comes in at under 30lb.
