Hi. I've tried fitting these and followed the instructions but when I tighten the bolt up as tight as I dare and then press the XTR M970 shifter to change gear the whole shifter rotates!
Has anybody else had this problem and what am I doing wrong?

Definately using xtr matchmakers? They do two types of matchmaker,
I have them on my slx shifters and they are fine :s

The XTR ones do twist a little. It's more of a workstand problem than a real world one though.

I'm tempted to try a little strip of coke can along the edge just to stop this.

They do, make sure you Loctite the bolt.

tbh I think its an error on Hope's part, they should've included the little security screw as per the original XTR part.

I have no problems with my RH shifter, but the LH does move a bit.

Problem is from what I can see, the clamp that comes with the shifter has a retaining screw on the inside but the matchmaker doesn't?? Therefore the lever can rotate on the bolt that holds the matchmaker to the top of the shifter???

I do find the shifters a little too far inboard as well. Considering going back to the original mounts.

They are quite inboard given the length of the brake levers. Can decide whether to run with them or use the original mounts.

I had them...lasted 3 rides...first 2 were because I thought I needed to adjust to them, third confirmed they didn't sit in the right position...levers felt squashed against brake lever.

They didn't rotate...were easy enough to fit but made the levers awkward to use. Removed and reboxed and originals refitted...instant comfort!

Out of all the Hope kit I've had over the years...brakes, hubs, headsets and matchmakers...these are the only things I would never recommend.

same problem, either the shifters slipped when pressed, or the bolt had to be done too tight and the shifters siezed up.

rubbish, had to file and adjust to get it to sit properly.

for the price it was a big disappointment, in fact the fact the brakes aren't compatible with shimano shifters is a bit rubbish.

If the shifters are rotating there's something wrong with the way they're fitted. It's the newer HBSP263R you need. CRC have them, although only in silver. No problems with mine and shifter vs lever spacing is good, has about 1/2" lateral shifter adjustment. No excessive tightening required.

I've had no problem with positioning, but then I run mine well inboard (about 2" from the grips).

I run my brakes in even further than that. My shifters are too far away rather than too close.

I have to agree with other people on here w ran them for a couple of weeks, could never get them to feel right, so went back to the original clamps, problem solved. Shame as they are a great idea.

I tried them to get over the problem of having the shifter pod positioned at too vertical an angle underneath the brake lever due to the underside bulk of the 'flip-flop' X2 master cylinder. The XTR matchmaker actually makes things worse! I got a better position with the original clamps and consequently consigned the matchmakers to the bottom of the toolbox. A rare duff product from Hope.

To be fair to Hope, I think the idea of them was for people who couldn't get a comfortable shifter position because the brake lever was in the way. I think we've all tried them just because we like the look/idea of less clutter and cleaner lines on the bars.

I've got Xt shifters, X2 brakes and the correct matchmakers and they work really well for me. I'm guessing the XTR ones aren't as straightforward as the non-XTR ones.

I paired up my X2's with my XT Ispec shifters using XTR matchmakers, works ok but has squashed the right shifter a touch so it doesn't click back after changing gear which is annoying when riding.

I'm guessing this thread is the wrong place to ask but it looks like I have an XTR / Hope matchmaker up for £15 posted. Brand new. Opened but not used!
