Has anyone got / tried a Yeti sb66c?
I can't stop staring at them. Trouble is I got burnt with my last full susser (a Mythic Shitfire) and ran whimpering back to the steel hardtail. I really fancy the Yeti, but are they any cop? Don't want to buy another crap full susser as it'll put me off for good.
And before anyone suggests it, no I don't want an Orange 5. I have a citrus allergy.
Cheers
They're ****ing awesome 🙂
Yes, I have one.
It's a very good bike for me. I love the long TT, slack HA & low BB.
I haven't had it long enough to have any issues, I know the early SB66's had bearing issues in the Switch Link, but I believe this was resolved before the carbon came out. It's something in the back of my mind though considering the weather we have to enjoy, as some of the Yeti spare parts & rebuild kits are eye wateringly expensive.
There was another post recently about shocks & the 66, in which I commented about the frame. It very much feels like a race bike, it's very stiff, and very firm in it's initial travel, so much so it feels uncompromising, yet the harder you push it, the better it gets. This reflects in the recent reviews, basically saying it needs to be ragged to work as it should.
Which is fair enough, it just means you end up riding everything as hard as you can, which can be pretty relentless after a while.
I like it though. It's a seriously fun, fast bike.
Cool. And what about sizing. I'm the usual 5'10", like plenty of standover but like a roomy cockpit without being too stretched out. I usually ride a medium BFe, a medium Fargo or a small Karate Monkey and Pugsley. Always seem to be between a small and med, but you say it has a long TT.
review in the new dirt
they like it
Welcome to The Tribe. You'll never leave!
Getting a SB95 in April.
I'm 5'11 & ride a medium alloy. Best bike in the world.
I'm 5'10 and ride a medium alloy one too. Love it. Not ridden enough other bikes to claim big things but never had a complaint about it!
Got a Shan recently too, the large size in that one almost matches the SB66 medium perfectly.
Out of interest what was wrong with the mythic? A friend of mine has just put down a deposit on a banshee, should he be worried?
I had a go on on the alu 66, liked it a lot, just didn't think I'd be able to do it justice

Older ones had a bushing system instead of bearings. It didn't work.
5'10, small, 50mm stem.
i can see two issues with this thread, i want one more than i do now and there is no photos.
the sizing is a question for me too as i like a small feeling bike, height wise, but i don't want to be cramped front to back. i do wonder how long it'll be before they do a carbon sb95...
I am 5'9 and ride a medium with 50mm stem.
Great bike, nice a stiff but as mentioned above the harder you ride the more plush it becames, currently with a Fox RP23 but toying with putting a CCDB Air shock on (courtesy of a couple of Rugby7 Tickets). Had mine for nearly 3 months and its ridden 2-3 a week without any issues, I opted for the standard XT build (but 2x10) and with 160mm Floats up front, in hindsight should have gone Talas as I do a lot of climbing here, no a big problem though.
Oh, and as I write this over my breakfast I am also looking at this....

It is a great do it all bike although a tadge expensive.
Finally some pics!
Mines less than two weeks old so can't comment too much at the moment. It's had a run out at both Cannock and Sherewood. Sherewood as a shakedown ride and then a proper ride at Cannock. All I can say is it's quick. Got less air in the rear shock than I expected after reading the reviews. Seems that the new Fox CTD shock may have sorted some of the issues. I know when I demoed the alloy version I had to have 20-30psi more than my weight in for it feel that it was holding me up whereas the new CTD I have about 10 psi less than my weight.
As others have said - it wants to be ridden hard.
I'm 5ft 7" (just - maybe) and have a small. 50mm stem and it fits just right. I demo'ed an Orange 5 and really didn't like it. Demo'ed the Yeti (alloy at Llandegla) and just had to have one.
Si, I think toons has a mate with one
BigSteve is 5'7" 😆
Absolutely rubbish. They look crap and ride crap. Plus they are so bendy and heavy.*
*Massive lies.
Minion DHF and Ardent on the rear. Both 2.35.
