Looking at an AM9 in XL, but as I live Oooooh Norf it'll be unlikely I'll get a test ride in first. Any riders in NW who wouldn't mind me chucking a leg over.
Or any XL riders please chip in with your heights (6ft 7ins here) - keen to see if it's a sensible option based on that (it is the longest bike I have found)...I have monkey arms.
Thanks.
I rode one briefly, I'm just over 6 ft and it was way too big for me. The owner was about 6'4 and he was comfortable on it.
I rode an XL spesh enduro 29 and I'd guess the owner was around your height, I could barely touch the pedals with the seat dropped.
Pretty sure Bird demo out of the NE (Hamsterley?) too? Worth a check, not too far.
dmck16 - they don't have any XLs in their Northern Demo fleet sadly.
Bump.
Have you asked then if they can get an XL up north for you to demo?
Nikolai do a geometron in xxl. I'm 6"4 on an xl g13 and it's the biggest bike I've ever seen it sat on.
I've seen a few xl's come up for sale 2nd hand.
550 reach on the xxl 🙂
The Aeris 145 has almost identical reach/ETT numbers so trying one of these might confirm the fits ok? This is what I did to check it’d fit, I was in the same situation as you, no demo bike available of the right size AM9.
I went for an XL AM9 with 35mm stem, I’m 6’ 3” but at the wrong end of the country for you.
Im afraid we dont have any XL demo bikes anywhere! They sell out too quick 🙂
Friend is also 6'7" with scary arm length.
He has the XL Bird and it's the first bike I've seen him on that looks like it fits him.
Just tried looking for a photo, but nothing from a useful angle.
He's not North-based any more sadly (Frome, Somerset)
I am 6’5” on the XL. I run a 50mm stem and have the seat pretty far forward. At 6’7” I’d say the Bird is probably on the shorter, more compact side for you. Both in reach and in chainstays length.
The Pole bikes and the Nikolai Geomtrons are even longer, as well as taller and have longer chainstays to keep pressure on the front wheel.
