Hi
I’ve been offered a long weekend in a cottage on Arran In August and am considering going up there Friday-Monday and taking a bike
Is there any worthwhile riding to be done on an mtb and if so is it easily accessible?
Would probably only ride Saturday and Sunday
Cheers
Steve
Im sure on FB there is an Arran riders group. They sound pretty selcoming and inclusive.
Well Grinduro was run up there for a few years. Technically gravel riding, but some of it was definitely heading towards MTB territory.
I recall flowy singletrack between Brodick and Lamlash. Good either way. Also around Brodick Castle
Giants Grave down to Ashdale Bridge - hilarious yet terrifying on a rigid bike.
There was also some lovely woodsy singletrack somewhere in the woods above Whiting Bay.
...then there's Goat Fell... No idea if its rideable, but Scottish access laws, so nowt stopping you having a go.
There are some lovely trails between Brodick, Lamlash and Whiting Bay. A few locals on here, and nobeer, who is an aspiring local 🙂 The Arran Bike Club FB page has/used to have down route maps on it too.
There's some decent riding, but tbh for a long weekend I'd go walking instead, some of the best ridgewalking outside of Skye, and all very accessible.
If you really wanna ride, do a search, I've typed it all out too many times.
Or get a guide - ride arran on insta.
