Moved up here last year, partly for the riding, which obviously is ace.
Used to ride Surrey Hills which was also ace in a different way and as much as I like the rocky, more outdoorsy stuff in the North West, sometimes I fancy a bit of flowing, loamy woodland singletrack.
So do we have any?
Other than Delamere which I here isn't that great...

Dunno who said Delermere wasn't great, but if they did, then they don't know it...

There's loads of great woodsy Singletrack there..

Ok, it's pretty flat, and a Singlespeed is all you need but I can ride in from home, and there's a good 3hrs + of Singletrack fun to be had.

If you wanna be shown round, I'd gladly show you..

Obviously the people you have heard from can't find the good stuff at Delamere.

x 3 for Dele.

Either hook up with a local or give your self 3 or 4 hours and get lost in there hunting out the singletrack.

Delamere & Primrose are great, 3 hours of riding is easily findable with loads of single track.

Either SS or 1x9 is more than enough, I live literally just round the corner - but also have ridden Swinley & the Surrey Hills (albeit only once) and Delamere is just the same but not as hilly.

Come along on one of our rides one night this week, Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.

I'm not a local but try and visit delamere regularly, it's not the hilliest place but theres lots of single track to play on and i'm always finding new bits. Was up there on thursday with the family and it was great though still patches of mud on some tracks that were dusty 100yds back. The only warning for delamere is the mosy's.

Actually took some pics in Delamere & Primrosehill woods on an evening ride last Thursday.
Don't normally bother with the camera there, but gives an idea of what you can find.

Ooh Milt those pictures are lovely.

brooess - there's a bit of stuff around us (Marple), e.g the Romiley downhill, which can be linked from Chadkirk woods. Trouble is its all quite hilly, so the ups are steepish. From the bottom of Romily downhill you come out at Compstall and make you way back through Brabyns park (all cheek of course), but the walkers are really friendly.
Also Woodbank park in Stockport, which can also be linked to Chadkirk and Romiley.

Then there's the stuff around Jackson's boat near the river Mersey (binners territory).

e-mail nbt from here if you want some guiding.

there's only the odd bit round here - a hundred yards in one spot, a couple of hundred at the next spot.

There's not that much woodsy singletrack around the Peak that is in and next to Cheshire.
As NBT has mentioned, it's quite sparse round here .
We found a really good 100 yards of it on the way back from Lyme Park last week. Just off Middlewood Way. Barely enough for a detour though, let alone a journey to get to.

Middlewood cheek is in *fine* condition at the moment. Almost got the tandem down clean last week but bottled that one tight bit - will have it next time!

Cheshire is kind of delamere, not a whole lot else. But it is within easy reach of loads of excellent riding in other counties.

Nah, i agree with others, you have been grossly misinformed about delamere, there are miles and miles of singletrack in the forest and primrose wood.
Allsorts from pretty quick downhill bursts to very technical tight singletrack.
I go out on a monday and wednesday evening, you really should come out and give it a chance, the routes are endless and you learn new ones all the time plus new ones are constantly being planned and laid out.

Email me at johnbpowleyATaimDOTcom if you are interested.

Ive been down to Dalemere woods twice now, once last November and again this weekend, Found a few good single tracks and the FR stuff over the far side. Im interested in getting out and finding more, is there a regular ride planned around the woods or could i hook up with a group to find more trails?
Cheers Simon

How about crossing the border and checking out those Welsh hills? Must be loads of good trails up there.

I'm hoping to take the bike next time I'm there.
