Looking for a new set of tyres to replace the Nobby Nics my Trance came with. Any deals on 27.5 tubeless ready at the minute? Tempted by the Chunky Monkey / Smorgasbord combo but not as many people seem to be running them anymore and I've not heard much about them in the 27.5 size.

OK, I did have the combo in 26 and they seemed ok, Chunky Monkey was good until it got muddy.

Any other suggestions for something reasonably priced?

I ordered Trailstar Hans Dampfs from Evans for £35, thinking they were old stock, and Addix soft arrived!  Result.

26" though.

I like WTB Vigilante for that sort of riding, not as heavy, not as slow as yours above.

WTB's often a good option, they've got a gappy range but most of what they make works. Maxxis've gone mad on price, 50% of all schwalbes are rubbish, Specialized aren't as good value as they used to be...

I like my smorgasbord CM combo.

I found the on one tyres to be quite dead feeling, which may well have been due to weight I suppose.

For a decent tyre that doesn’t cost a fortune I like specialised. Currently run butcher front and a slaughter out back on the full suss. That’s a trail centre/summer set up as the hard tail had cheapo mud tyres for winter duties.

Purg & Butcher combo seems a reasonable price compared to the Maxxis stuff. I think I’ll go with them.

Rutland usually have good deals on bontragers. I got some xr2 and xr4 from them not too long ago

In the end I went with a Butcher and Purgatory, 2.3 x 27.5 in Grid casing, got the pair for £52.44, seems a decent deal I think.

Craig where did you get your tyres from? Seems to be a good price?

That Butcher/Purgatory combo is a very good one for the cash.  The Butcher feels a lot like a Minion DHR, grippy too.

I ordered them from ciclisport.com

Not used them before but they had the best price and free delivery.
