Hi. Looking at getting a DJ bike but I'm 6'3"
It won't be my main bike so don't want to spend much over £1000. The DMR Sect Pro looks to be the best option but not sure if anyone has used one and what it feels like size wise? Didn't realise it was a one-size fits all.
The below come in Large but are more expensive:
Commencal Absolut
Transition PBJ
YT Dirt Love
What do people recommend? Any experience with any these bikes? Taller riders, would be great to hear some feedback. (I come from a bmx background so shouldn't be too bad).
Thanks,
Jonny
I'm 5'11" with a short Transition PBJ. I thought I'd need a Long but the short is perfectly fine! You can really easily overthink it, jump bikes don't need a long reach to ride well.
I'm sure the normal Sect Pro would be great.
Thanks!
I'm 6'5" and have a 4x bike(BMC RR13), I'm not sure of the reach but it's definitely not long! I don't notice tbh, it's a great fun bike.
Awesome, thanks. Yeah I'm probably over thinking it really. Should be nice to throw around.
Worst case I can buy a Large Rhythm frame and swap it over anyway.
6'5" here and I got a large Commencal Absolut just before the new year. It's fits really well. I've added a slightly higher rise bar but that's just personal preference. If you're coming from a BMX background I would have thought that any size DJ bike will feel ok. I was coming from an XL 29'er so didn't want anything that felt too small and unstable. A BMX would've seen me in hospital before the winter was over and I needed something I could take to the skate park with the kids now they've got BMX's so the large Absolut fitted the bill.
Transition PBJ i'm 6'5 on a large and gusset 3" rise bars, this year/next they are also doing an XL
I had a Dartmoor Shine, they only come in one size and at 6'2" it always felt like it could be a touch longer but I am used to riding an Airdrop Edit in a large.
That said, I took it over sets of doubles, to Corby/Adrenaline alley and various skate parks.
Shorter bikes spin much faster when backflipping too which is handy.
I flipped my old Saracen Ariel into a foam pit and the spin speed was so slow compared.
I would aim for the longest TT you can, don't put a long stem on it or it will never work, but you are going to have to relearn what the bike feels like when going to a jump bike.
Is the PBJ worth the extra money? (i.e. £1600 compared to some DMR or NS builds £700-1000)

<div class="bbp-author-role">I couldn't argue that it's worth the extra, but it is very nice...</div>
worth it in the sense that their large and their new XL are a fair chunk bigger than other jump bikes, which for the taller person is a plus.
It definitely looks sexy as Hell.
Thanks for the help, all.
It looks less 'low slung' than the others. Is it easy enough to chuck around?
If one fancied trying a can-can or something would it be ok?
