Spending more and more time in Sunderland due work and my partner living there, are there any locals nearby that ride during the week/weekends locally?

I'm in Sunderland. What sort of riding? I've been doing distance stuff recently as training for the C2C but that's done now. Weekends mainly.

Mtb, work in doxford park and I'm looking for some mid week rides. Mates ride hamsterley and Guisborough but can be a stretch time wise. Is there anything local? Nothing tech obviously.

Hi there, Sunderland local here.

There is quite a bit of decent Singletrack in the area, just not that obvious. There are trails in Penshaw woods which Sanctuary cycles built. It's a couple of years old now and has bedded in nicely. There are some good trails along the river and even some dirt jumps in Washington. Link them all up with railway lines for a good ride out.

Beamish woods is also within riding distance and has some brilliant natural stuff.

beamish is a good call out that way, the oddsox club meet every wednesday eve at the pub outside the museum and do local trails (and good stuff it is too)

Can do, I'm out at least one night mid week for a training ride and could include some of the better stuff the area has to offer.

There is a cycleway from Doxford park opposite the Oak Tree Farm pub. I think it runs to Ryhope, then from there you can access the old railway line that runs to Thorpe Thewells, or you can take a fork that runs to Hart station and Crimdon Dene. A good 35 mile round trip easily. Quite a pleasant little ride.

I have a 10 mile-ish local loop starting from The Stables pub in East Herrington. Happy to share - nothing mind-blowing but a decent mix of woodlands, fields and a touch of cheeky paths (best ridden at night)...

Email in profile.

Bringing this thread back from the dead, my shift patterns have changed so I now finish at normal times (5pm). Anyone fancy showing me some local routes around Sunderland?
