Hi Guys
New member, just asking can anyone please help me with some off road routes in and around Heywood, Bury, Rochdale area.
Thanks
pfft I don't know, do you think my name is Mr. Heywood? (it is, just to explain this pointless seemingly non sencial response...)
There are lots of bridleways and farm roads to explore around Birtle, Ashworth, Nangreaves and Chesham with a couple of little disused quarries to play around in.
Rooley Moor Road up onto Scout Moor, couple of interesting quarries on top and down towards Cowpe to get to Lee Quarry.
Pennine Bridleway and good network of other bridleways and Rochdale Canal towpath give good routes linking Healey Dell, Watergrove Reservoir, Summit, Hollingworth Reservior and Piethorne Reservoir.
Loads and loads.
Head up towards Ashworth Valley and up on t'Moors. Rooley Moor, Scout Moor, over the back and all the way to Lee Quarry if the fancy takes you.
There's not much South toward Manchester, but you are on the edge of the Pennines if you try.
or you can head towards rochdale, pick up the canal toward hollingworth lake, piethorn and ogden .or even hebden bridge
Thanks for the replies, appreciatte them, how do i find routes etc. Is there any maps I can buy ?
Is there a "group|" who cycle these routes who would like a new member.
