He can do Blue routes at tail centres.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Kielder is 45 mins away but I'd say lakeside route is perfect plus great ice cream at Tower Knowe.
There's a nice potter along the river if you just want steady away.
A lot of the off road stuff around there is boggy moorland. Nice during the summer, not so much at this time of year. Depends what you want. Some bits around Slaley forest. Fire roads on the south side of Kielder forest if you don't fancy travelling up to the water. Some nice quiet roads. A few Sustrans routes around the area: c2c, Hadrian's CycleWay, Reivers... I don't personally know much blue trailcentre style stuff round there.
Head south and do a there and back from Swalwell ( Blaydon ) Rugby Club for as far as he can manage on the Derwentside Walk ..its a gradual climb on the outward leg ..but a nice return which he will enjoy ..bit of a footpath section at Rowlands Gill ..but just keep following the signs ..its a shared track with walkers, runners & horse riders ..and he will get mucky ..
Edit ..also meant to say that the Lakeside Way at Kielder right now is a No-No ..its a punishing track at this time of year or after any prolonged period of rain as the trail surface is very cloying ..but if the idea is to tire him out then fire away.
The blue Osprey Trail would be a better bet ..but be aware that other than a lack of features it's more in keeping with a red ...
Go to hamsterleu and do some of the red route. Take a tow rope.
That's what we always do from Corbridge
Thanks folks. Heading out tomorrow.
