I bought a set of Stans road wheels secondhand as I was looking for some light road wheels. Having since done some research, it appears there can be issues with clincher tyres popping off the rim....not good!
Rather than sell the wheels I've decided to get some tubeless tyres. It looks like my wheels won't be so light after all now!
I didn't really have any issues using clinchers and tubes, so hopefully some of you will say the switch is worth it??
switch is totally worth it.
I've run and ridden tubeless and set up a lot of road tubeless for people.
the weight difference really isn't that great either.
imagine your tubes weigh 100-150g per tube, the offset of weight between that and a slightly heavier tyre and sealant becomes nothing.
I like the Hutchinson fusion for summer but the intensive for winter use. Just waiting on the secteur 28 to come out in a couple months time.
I normally use Conti Supersonic tubes at around 50g each with no problems, so I'm probably looking at a heavier setup now. I think the concept is great with mountain bikes, hopefully for road too
I've been running Fulcrum Racing 1 wheels tubeless for about a year now. Main advantage imo is running a lower pressure so it's a lot more comfortable te. Weight is comparable to running decent tubes with a reasonable lightweight clincher
I've got the fulcrum racing 1 2way setup with the bontrager R3 tubeless. I rate these tires better than the Hutchinson's they replaced.
Just imported some sectur 28s from the states. Looking forward to slapping them on my arch rims.
