My Singular Puffin needs a new BB.

The frame runs an EBB meaning that the centre of the BB is encased within the EBB.

Could I get away without running the connecting sleeve of an BB?

If I could it would mean I could throw in an SLX/XT rather than fat specific.

Any reason why I shouldn't?

Would the axle be long enough on a non-fat specific?

Will the old sleeve fit the new BB cups?

Is the BB totally encased, or does the EBB insert have holes machined into it?

I saw a DH mechanic throw out Greg Minaar's the other day, got me wondering. I guess it stops loads of cack getting into it via the frame, so depends on how often you can replace it or how sealed the EBB is.

I've not used am internal sleeve in years. No baby robins have been killed and also still get decent life out of bb's.

EBB is completely enclosed which is what got me thinking.

Will try the currently sleeve but hazarding a guess it's the wrong "standard" 😉
