Any reason not to buy a Vitus Substance HT? Apart from the fact I have too many bikes I don’t use?

As I’m based in Belfast I can get this on the cycle to work scheme:
https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/p/vitus-substance-carbon-ht-rival-1x-gravel-bike

I would prefer 700c wheels but there doesn’t seem be many equivalents with some sort of squish in this price bracket. I am sold on the idea of suspension although I realise not everyone will be, for example, I love the futureshock on my Specialized Roubaix but couldn’t get with the Giant Defy or Trek Domane.

It will used mainly for commuting and short lunchtime spins on gravel/blue trails.
Or should I just sort out the suspension on my old Yeti ASRC5 or brakes on my Trek Stache?

Aren’t they (Vitus) part of Planet X? If so then you won’t get any warranty support now that they’ve gone bankrupt.

Yep - this will be purchased through the Chain Reaction physical store in Belfast.

I bought a vitus hard tail mtb approx 18 months ago. Seemed like the best value for money at the time. Still very happy with it.

Mate had a Substance gravel bike and it was decent for the money. Came up smaller than the size suggested though, XXL was more like XL.

Another option could be the Orange X9 in the sale?

I have a 2020 model Substance CRX with 650B wheels - highly recommend. Been a great bike.
I've also got a pair of 700c wheels, which I'm currently running, so can change as required. Current plans are 700c for dry/summer and will shift back to 650B and more knobbly tyres for winter.
Don't have the suspension fork, but am running a Redshift stem which takes the buzz out.

I had a Substance CRS2 and it was an excellent bike for gravel type duties and as a spare CX pit bike with 1x and 700c wheels, well built, nicely finished and well specced for the money. Rode really nicely too, I agree on the sizing, I had a large but it sized up as a "normal" medium.

I’ve been wondering about this too. Same thoughts about 650b but I have a spare pair of zipp 303s I could stick on it.

It has a dropper and 30mm if I’m not wrong? The canyon grizl equivalent is £3.2k including postage. I could get the Substance for £2.1k with my loyalty discount. Is the canyon £1k+ more of bike?

I'd looked at this too to "upgrade" from my trusty Arkose X. That's already been treated to a redshift shock absorbing stem, and cane creek eSilk seatpost so is already marginally "sprung". Keen to try the properly suspended front but it looks a lot heavier than a carbon rigid fork. My Arkose has only ever had 650b wheels and with 50mm rubber has been great.
