Howdy peeps. My Google-fu is failing me so I'm hoping the hive mind can help.Â
My wife works with troubled kids trying to get them into work placements/further education/positive activities around Warwickshire. She's trying to get a teenager to re-engage via his cycling obsession.
At the mo it's an anti-social activity since he's doing all the wheelies-down-the-middle-of-the-road stuff that endears him to us grumpy adults, so she's trying to find clubs/groups around Leamington way to introduce him to where he can do tricks safely/with people who'll encourage him.
I know there's a few folks from the area on here, so any suggestions for clubs formal or informal, Facebook groups etc, or ideas where the pump tracks and the equivalent of the tracks behind Nationwide are would be appreciated. All I can find so far is adult roadie groups, and I gather he's not that into log burners and fancy coffee 🙂
Cheers in advance all, it's a tough time for restless kids

Looks like a good pump track at bishops tachbrook.
Bmx club at Redditch could be perfect but may be a bit far
That's a start, thanks
Have you seen the MTB trails at Newbold Comyn, Leamington Spa?

Much less likely to upset anyone if they're riding there :o)

I had no idea that was there, cheers! Might take the bike over there at the weekend for "research purposes" and see if any of the locals know anything
Â
Yeah, Leamington is my ends.
The newish mtb trails at Newbold Comyn are perfect really. There's a good jump area there and usually a load of folks getting sick and indeed, rad air there.Â
A good place to start other than just going up there regularly and chatting to people might be RLSCC (Royal Leamington Spa Cycling Club) who were instrumental in getting the trails built in the first place.Â
They are fairly active and have regular rides during the week, but I guess you're more looking for the jumps and tricks end of things.
Anyway, their Facebook page is a good place to look.Â
Not to be confused with the other RLSCC who are the canoe club 😉
First of all, masive respect to your wife!
Newbold is excellent and buzzing at the weekends. Loads of groups of chatty teens who love the trails.
Unfortunately by their nature, most organised clubs are not full of young kids who love gnarr. They're usually full of middle aged men in lycra or their kids who haven't yet reached an age where they can go dig in the hills with their mates.Â
There's a pump track at Bishops Tachbrook, and another near Hockley Heath (but it's a shit to find!)
In the North there's Hick's Lodge, and there's somewhere a bit up from there that I can't remember what it's called.Â
Â
Unfortunately not much else that I'm aware of in terms of cheeky stuff, it's not really a hilly county. Mostly 30s max blasts at the most.
Fantastic info, thanks guys. I'll/we'll/she'll have a look at RLSCC. If they got the trails built then that bodes well.Â
There is also a new pump track next to the proper bmx track in RedditchÂ
If you're coming over towards Redditch (where I live) then there is a great, free, pump-track in Evesham too :o)

Nice! My side of the family have started using that Evesham shopping park thingy for midway meet ups so I'll have a nosey next time
