I wear lycra for cycling, hairy legs sticking out of lycra shorts looks gash, so I shave. simple. I could make up all sorts of shite about massage, or whatever, but it's mostly 'cos it looks better. The fact that mud cleans off easier is a bonus, cuts healing quicker? maybe, no real evidence. Do women like my shaven legs? my partner doesn't mind, her friends range from intrigued, to asking to show them how I do it so well 😯 ...Couple of days ago I lent on a Golf at some traffic lights waiting for them to go green, attractive young lady wound down the passenger window, called me "Cheeky" smiled, then: "nice legs" so make of that what you will...

I make of it that it's the second time I've seen this posted, so you're probably dining out on it...! 😀
I'd be dining out on that for a while!
It's a great conversation starter certainly!
It's was a moment in my life I shall treasure, 😆
Funny all my mates that play football/basketball/rugby or that run, don't shave there legs...
Perhaps it needs to be more gnar - what about shaving leg mohicans, rings, stripes into your legs? Like the mullet you then get the best of both worlds.
I'm with the other ladies....... leave the legs hairy.
You're just not comfortable enough with yourself to do it 🙂

Nowt wrong with a bit of designer stubble Simon!

njee what me? Done it several time when I was your age... Even went for waxing. But then I discovered that it was pointless.
Nah, I meant it to bunnyhop, but on re-reading it, she's clearly female, thus making it a redundant statement!
Agree it's pointless, but it looks better and makes a great talking point!
I would but where do you stop? I wouldn't want to shave the legs up to where the shorts start and leave a bizarre pair of hair pants. Nor would I want to shave further up and have a sort of hair T-shirt. You could start off down this route and end up looking like Matt Lucas eventually.
never dont it nort really tempted not hirsute enough to worry but amusing thread
'not hirsute enough' - junkyard, you've got the longest hair on here 8)
I don't have particularly hairy thighs, so it's never really been an issue for me, stop round about where my boxer shorts go!
I think nickc should post pics and trade secrets lol
Dont want to and could never be bothered too anyway. Plus it would be humilating 🙂
Its mainly to do with allowing road rash to heal more quickly, and for embrocation. But yes its also mainly to say "i'm a cyclist'
I plan to regain my 'Calfs of steel' that say cyclist 🙂

It's all to do with technique Mr Barnes 😉
Must admit when I took 2 chunks out of my knee the other week the holes were full of all kinds of crap where the skin folded back over during the ride.
Out came the scissors in the shower and the spare skin got cut off, then came the razor and I de-haired the affected area, made getting dressings on an off a whole lot better.
Kinda liked it too 😆 🙄

you think you need to tell me ??

I was specifically told by a nurse that it's best to leave skin flaps attached!
yeah i shave my legs ... up to around the boxer short line. Kind of weird when out in public wearing normal shorts ... esp on train to work etc few funny looks. But as njee says its a great opener ....
You tube video how to...
either do it yourself or have the nurse do it before they stitch your legs back up.... you only make that mistake once, it's hard to shave somebody else's legs with a straight blade razor when they are full of gravel.
you only make that mistake once
I seem to have made it about a hundred times, and as far as I can see the presence of hairs makes little difference to healing, particularly when most other mammals have a hell of a lot more 🙂
I guess no hair allows cleaning of wounds easier and removal grit, dry bandages come off easier without pain and with reduction in bacteria- infection but have not found any research to prove it.
Anyone have any links?
I shave my legs. I do it because it looks better to me when I'm wearing lycra on my road bike 🙂
I also put vaseline on them so they shine.
I have no shame.
Shaved and oiled for summer. Shaved and embrocation for winter.
One looks hot one feels hot. 8)
