I am tempted 😳

I am a true "bi" biker, love mtbing and road biking equally.

Shaving my legs would see me fitting in well on the club runs, not so well on a trail 🙂

I do occasionaly, just MTFU and buy a proper safety razor, ohh and dont whatever you do shave UP the shin bone, go accross it (and avoid nobbly bits like ankle bones as well) theres a couple of big holes in my shins from that!

It is much much nicer riding without a wooly blanket on, and mud doesn't stick as much either.

Been doing it for years; shave DOWN towards your knees, take your time and then UP towards your knees.

Leave a patch of hair on your inner thighs; scrotums don't like regrowth.

Use conditioner instead of shaving foam, works as well, easier to spread on.

It means your legs will burn/tan easier so think about suncream.

You just missed out on being a pedo by about 3 months. 😀

And I will admit you do have to be comfortable with your sexuality before you can think about shaving/waxing..

When I was racing on the the road + track used to.

Remember having a sheet of skin coming through the razor when I first tried shaving them some 30 years ago. The bath water looked like a pig had been shaved then fed to a shark.

Ladyshave is best - steer clear of those hair plucking depilators they just equal pain. Then there is waxing got the wife to try it on one of my legs once - the f***ing pain + specs of blood were each hair used to be!

Women are tough - can't imagine having the speedo line waxed!

I used to. Best tip I was ever given was to cover your legs in baby oil and shave them underwater in the bath.

Mrs doesn't like it so it doesn't happen any more now I've settled down.

I shall be doing mine later this evening. Pure and simply because I need to apply lots and lots of taping to my legs and it hurts to pull that stuff of hairy legs.

You would be better off waxing cos it will last longer. Knees are rather painful though! Just need to MTFU. 😉

Always helps to apply a pre-wax lotion and then make sure you use the appropriate wax as there are different ones for different areas of the body. An electric waxpot is good.

HTH.

No.1 on my legs in the summer. I do ride more road than MTB but I'm nowhere near a good enough rider to justify shaved legs (if it needs justifying...). I'm naturally a hairy b'stard and very hairy legs look hideous in lycra in my opinion so I trim them every month or so in the summer which seems a good compromise to me. They tan soooo much better as well 🙂

yep, veet my legs and shave chest, back, bum, genital area ( tho not all of it, i trim the rest down with scissors to a 4-5mm.)

Feel like an eel o the bike, although be warned, the first few times you veet or shave the legs, the thigh areas and inner thigh areas are unbelievably itchy so buy some anti itching cream at the same time

as soon as all my latest abrasions and holes heal, yep definitely because it's a damn site easier to stick ****in great big wound dressings on to smooth skin rather than furry legs. (I'm also a great big woofty mincer so no problems there either :D)

All this doesn't really answer the question. why do roadies shave their legs? If your crashing that much then learn to ride properly 😯

The whole leg shaving thing is some sort of homoerotic ritual that some cyclists feel they need to be part of

Because they do.

Though I've never shaved mine, and my legs are ****in' hairy. However, if I do recover any sort of fitness to race the bike this year, I shall get the razor out and incur the wrath of Mrs North.

I did Builth in lycra on sunday..too hot for baggies over Assos my usual prefrered combo...felt a bit wierd not having shaved legs!..will be doing it soon...used some hair removing cream on my nads when I had the snip..may give that a try!

Mate of mine who frequents these parts has concentrated more on MTB than road this year just because his wife reduces his bedroom action quota 😆 when he shaves his legs!

Lol
Why don't runners shave their legs?
Anyway forget shaving - how do I fill in the massive craters in my shins from crashes & pedal strikes? That's a more MTB problem

Why don't runners shave their legs?

Err... many do. It makes massage easier, so if you're getting a lot of massage it makes sense.

Also reduces the risk of infection on skin wounds, which is a strong case for cyclists, but less so for runners.

The GF's put paid to me doing it this year so far, hairy just feels so wrong!

was going to start a thread similar myself.....

what shaving cream is there? i dont want to shave prefferably, so veet etc is an option right??? id prefer to it that way as shaving often leaves me with a rash on my legs 🙁

so what product for men for removing hair on the legs?

I often consider doing it but have never got round to it yet. For the 'why do it' question, well for a start it would be much easier to clean up shin wounds and stick a plaster on them.

i use veet sensitive. The first time used it twice because of length of hairs on legs.

How do you do your own back with a razor???

either reach around ( its not really that hairy anyway) or mostly get GF to do it for you when showering

yeah - why do you shave your legs?
a) in case I might fall off my bike and get an infection
b) so I can dress up in my mum's underclothes

which is more credible ?

Veet for proper man hair, then some shower gel and your normal razor to keep them smooth. Used to use a Venus, but it's not really any better than a Fusion.

Been tempted several times, but wear shorts to work alot in retail so would get sick of the funny looks from customers...
perhaps a tatoo saying

"don't worry i'm a cyclist" may work? On the calf...

Also though about the old bum from soloing 24's cut down on some rubbage perhaps? Afraid of stubble rash!

One one point raised by a few...how the hell do you shave your balls? Got to be a electric not cut throat 😯

Anyway i'm off to be manly for a bit and wash these thoughts out of my head 😳
