Hi

So I spotted a bike 2nd hand bike on ebay , bought it with paypal - but the seller sent it via Hermes 8-(

It was sent to my work address but on getting home i've seen the tracking is saying they delivered to reception (Which was shut at time specified) , I've checked with security guards and they have not seen anything on security footage

No signature recorded - am i going to have a nightmare getting my money back from ebay/paypal if after checking other companies buildings round mine, it still doesnt turn up?

Cheers

Z

In all honesty they probably just left it with another company or something "near" your work place. They are truly awful.

Good luck mate.

My local community group on Facebook always has stories of missing Hermes parcels. If they really are that bad then can they survive as a business?

I’ve just had this with a boiler for my business. Tracking initially said it was delivered 2 days ago at 7.45pm (business closed at 5pm). It turned up today.

The Hermes bloke that delivers to me is really good. Also I didn't think Hermes delivered parcels that big?

Exactly what I was about to type. (except our bloke is a lady.)

I’ve had this before, I think sometimes they mark as delivered (when they haven’t even tried)to make up time when running late knowing they will be back over the next couple of days to actually deliver it.

Hermes apparently delivered a 12kg bag of dog food from Amazon to me on Monday whilst I was in. They certainly did not. Amazon now sending out second parcel due to arrive tomorrow.

I’m sure Hermes load parcels into trebuchets and fire them towards postcodes!!

They have a service called large and light (or something like that) which is good for things like bikes.

My experience (815 parcels delivered in the last year) is that they're not bad at all- a fairly high rate of delayed parcels but I've had a single one damaged out of that 815, and none lost (had some lost longer ago). But the other thing I found when I did have an issue was that it was dealt with fast and I got a no quibbling payout of the agreed value.

Hermes have failed toi deliver and lied about it to me - but also have managed to find my flat which is not easy and once I found a lost hermes courier in my stair who was trying to deliver to me but didn't understand the scottish naming conventions. ie 4f3, 2 something street which is our correct address means 4th floor flat 3, 2 something street

No problem with Hermes here either, local guy is really good. But like any business our perception of their "quality" is based on how well our interaction with the person at point of delivery goes

Just as an interesting side issue; Whilst investigating a missing parcel marked as delivered with Royal Mail, their central customer services team told me they'd replaced their hand held machines with ones that contain a GPS location recorded on signature, and that they'd investigate that perhaps it'd gone to a neighbour.

Turns out that my parcel, and a whole bunch of others were "Signed for" at our local sorting depot. A postie dropped off my parcel 2hrs later, 2 days late. Talk about cooking the books...

Well no sign of it at any of the surrounding buildings receptions- went as far as to check behind bins and hedges around building as well

Now waiting for ebay seller to get back to me

Parcel2go / Hermes wont interact with me as i'm just the receiver

finger crossed it does turn up , read that you can have issue with ebay not refunding as they take couriers saying they have delivered as proof you have received the goods..

I've had Hermes say they had tried to deliver (several times) when they had not. In the house, sat by the door at time of alleged attempts. No cards left. Package went missing and was never sent back to company. They sent out a new one.

Had a hermes parcel (from Rapha of all companies) 'delivered' at 11am yesterday. It turned up at 5.30 just as I was leaving work. As above, I think they sometimes cook the books to keep Hermes happy. to be honest I wasn't worried as our Hermes courier is a nice bloke and the parcels always get here eventually.

When I sent a bike frame with MyHermes and some wheels too, as there is a drop off point at the end of my street. They picked them up fine and then got back to me telling me it is too large and they need an extra payment for admin charges, at which point they will hand it over to a different company that handles larger deliveries.
My guess is either they are waiting for the seller to make this payment, or the company that delivers larger packages has it. I also noticed that it said out for delivery on the tracking before I had paid the extra fee.
So chances are it has not even left the depot yet.

As has been said above, Hermes is only as good as the local driver is willing to be. Ours is awful, many times has said that our unmade road is 'under construction' or that 'access issues' e.g. A locked gate prevented him from delivering. Neither of which is true. He makes three attempts, always finds access issues and then the parcel is returned to sender.Basically he had an argument with one of our neighbours when he got blocked in by their builders and now refuses to come up our track. Having complained many times as have our neighbours, we are now apparently 'blacklisted' whatever that means. Three of the last five parcels they 'attempted delivery' of went missing

Hermes: right now good.

But 1/2 year ago: pretty much a nightmare. The guy never delivered my stuff - due to the "fact" that my address isn't existing.
Haha. Big fun.

But depends onto the driver. Right now all is fine.
