Wheres the course at? Will you be sending riders along normal stuff with signs or taped off or what, I dont fancy a head on with a jones truss fork.
Takisawa you are not alone in that, I'm in the same boat, lanky speccy four eyes, and sound like I joy ride tractors, plus I'm so niche I've even got a stammer 🙂
I'm loosely part of a gang of 4. Will talk to anyone though 😆
lanky, speccy four eyes (am i benji....)
green al a carte, ti cup filled up with red wine.
don't follow me on any descent, i choose BAD lines.

The course is at Tackeroo, Scruff - although the camping isn't.
Don't know how it'll be marked out though...
The course is at Tackeroo,
We'll be going down that drop & the bomb holes won't we 🙂
Quite literally just finished building the shonkiest SS bike ever made. Up at 4.30am to set off from Kent...
May I be the first to say, nice course boys (even if the drop did take me 3 attempts).
course was great, drop was great fun, if a little of a shock on lap one getting an uncomfortable amount of air off it!
Fantastic course, great work by Taz and Keef. A lovely crowd, and a great atmosphere! Chapeau!
Top event, great vibe, fab course, excellent weather, dodgy head & guts Sat morning, well done SSUK2014
great event, top course, weather spot on. one idiot throwing the mini bike into the band was the only negative point
Its amazing how 200 riders on pretty much the same gear can travel at so many different speeds, pretty sure the Singular guy at the start was on a proto Singular ebike 😀
Top job Taz and Keef. I had a blast at my first event, I won't base all "races" on this one though. :-). Thanks for a great weekend of riding, drinking and meeting new people.
Yep - great event. Massive thanks to Taz and crew. Loved the course - chuffed to clear 'that' climb on 4th attempt! I liked the SSUK14 beer. 😀
That was a whole lot of fun! Thanks Keef, Taz and all who helped. Proper ale on tap too!
Course was good fun. Nice drop to keep you on your toes, ace twisty singletrack and great company - singlespeeders really are the nicest bunch of mentalists you could hope to meet. 😉

Actually the TdF is very similar - they just try to keep it away from the cameras
Superb weekend. Great to meet everyone there.
If you left your wheel behind, I have it. Mail me at richATdeaky.co.uk 🙂
I appear to be in the middle of qwerty's first pic 😳
Just to echo what I wrote on FB - absolutely top weekend for weather, riding and general socialness. Massive thanks to Taz, Keef, Deaky, Wayne and all the friends and family that made everything happen 😀
Now to get a t-shirt upgrade on my XT one ready for next year 😳
I am sure next year will be just as unique, enjoyable and well organised... 8)
Perhaps a Quantocks event some time in the future??!!
PS - anyone got any photos of the roller racing please? ❓
Indeed, fantastic course, fantastic people, and fantastic beer. Thanks Keef and Taz 😀
That's me in qwerty's first pic all dressed in black with my back to the camera on the left.
Great weekend, I'd forgotten just how much I like riding around in the wrong gear.... 🙂
My head hurts....
Always a good sign after a "race" 😀
@ Oxymoron Pffft you got lucky - I was chatting to you on the gate as they wanged bikes FWIW
TAz said all the photos would be on a FB at some point and they were taking pics of the race,
Awesome weekend of fantastic riding even with the dodgy ribs
Big thanks to Tazzy and Keef for all their efforts and to all who helped make it an awesome weekend
See you all in Yorkshire
Quite literally just finished building the shonkiest SS bike ever made.
You delivered on that promise and were a man of your word.Very pleased to have met you and chatted.
the photo site is down, you load of vain posers! 😉

Likewise. Always nice to meet folk at these things. And I wasn't kidding, was I? What a piece of crap!
That's me in qwerty's first pic all dressed in black with my back to the camera on the left.
And, as I wasn't next to Bazz, in that photo, I must have been "watering the trees"
What a great weekend - nicely topped off by my maiden run round ”follow the dog"thimorning- took great pleasure in single speeding past all of the geary types, as they pushed up the big fire road climb (don't know if I was more surprised than they were )
anyone else having trouble seeing the pics on the link i posted? works on my phone but not on the laptop
Spot on weekend, can't beat whirling around with like minded people. Nice to meet some of you guys from on here as well, always nice to meet the people behind the posts.
Just like to add my thanks to Taz, Keef and all the helpers for organizing such a great weekend.
Sadly I didn't have a decent camera with me but a few photos here...

@ RD link works fine for me on PC and Ipad
Can only echo the comments a ove. A lovely weekend, great weather and company. Sam the Birder Collie enjoyed meeting all you loons too. ;0)
Hazzah...
"I'm number three.. I'm number three.."!!
What a cracking weekend guys..
My Saturday evening was ruined by the mother of all migraines... I was tucked up in bed vomiting at 1930... And alcohol had nothing to do with it!
At least we were some of the last to leave the bar on Friday!
Great course -not easy in the slightest tbh... No real 'let up' sections 🙂
Had a great race with Jules and shaggy - just pipped them to the post.
The chaps in 1 St and 2nd were crazy fast!
DrP
We wondered where you had gone - thought you got lost in the woods!!
Not lost!
Started getting flashers in the eye mid afternoon, and bailed on the crry to go and die in my tent...
DrP
Brilliant weekend, cheers to Taz, Keef and helpers and marshalls and sponsors.
And to DrP and the Worthing lot for taking me in for the weekend.
Can't think of a better event to turn up on your own to. Quality friends every time.
Can't wait for Yorkshire. I bloody love Yorkshire.
had a great weekend for my first SSUK despite not being able to ride and met some great people.
Cheers to Donk and 'Dave's Mate' 😉 for letting me tag along with them.
Will hopefully have a functioning collarbone for SSUK2015!
By the way, who won the raffle? I had to leave early you see.
And are you (nedrapier) saying its Yorkshire next year?
Yep, Yorkshire.
Rumour was it was a guy with a Jones that won the raffle
how did Ringos dog do ?
🙂
4th
It was indeed.
i reallly enjoyed the booing of the geared riders during the bike wang.
i wondered what they made of it.
Especially as it was right after everyone was being really nice and polite:
"No, please come through, we'll be ages here, seriously. Come on, everyone, let these guys through"
"BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
By the way, who won the raffle? I had to leave early you see.
Me 😀
Great weekend, cheers boys!
I had a really bad start- Rocketdog's photos nicely capture me wandering around trying to find my bike. After that I had a great race with DrP and Jules. They both had a bit more power than me but I could plod back at them and, ahem, shoulder barge them out the way on the fast bits (sorry Jules). I blew on the last lap, but I think the order was fair. Nice to see Student Dave won on a bike that cost less than his shoes.
Really quite chuffed with myself having designed, built, painted, assembled and then raced my bike.
My highlight was being confused with Shaggy, bloke would not believe my protestations,
him" no you are him, you were really fast"
Me "no mate, you so don't know me if you think that"
Fame was cool if only for a fleeting moment 8)
Top weekend much thanks to tazzy, keef and everyone else who helped make it so good. A full weekend of riding trails that are completely different to the type of stuff we have back home. Friday night ride was a good laugh too, dunno if chaz and chums are on here but cheers guys.
think I saw a pic of you [url=May I be the first to say, nice course boys (even if the drop did take me 3 attempts).
]checking out the line 🙂
Nice to meet some more stwers there. GWS dawson.
FIFY
🙂you were really fast and ugly
I've ridden that drop loads of times & still get that sphincter tightening feeling, it's more the 90° right at the bottom that's the problem
FIFY
you were really fast and ugly
It's the reason for the beard, imagine how awful I'd be without it! 😯
Ha ha. That was me and Mrs Digga. We thought it was funny too. Glad you stopped wanging bikes down the trail for long enough to let us through. 😀aa - Member

We're local, so were just out on a ride and decided to drop by to see (singlespeed) friends at the campsite and tell people to keep the noise down 😉 (we're the site's nearest neighbour in one direction).
Looked a bloody good event anyway. Top marks to Taz & Keef.
Oh, was that u in the flowery wife beater Dr P? The trees left their mark on you didn't they 🙂
He's folded the tyre right over, presumably terminally if it's tubeless. The pitfalls of low tyre pressure. Not me, but "uh oh..."!!
Camera doing a stunning job of de-gnarrifying the trail there 🙂

Indeed it was, and indeed they did!
Slight graze on the knee, larger one on the right shoulder...that's what happens when you take the racing line a bit too close!!
DrP
Digga,
I think you took it better than the 3 blokes who stumbled across the mess shortly after!! 😆
Does anyone want to buy my ssuk14 hat?
I'd have to shave off a quarter inch of my head for it to fit....
Yea, but be fair, they didn't have my Mrs to back them up.aa - Member

Indeed!
It wasn't particularly difficult, but it's one of those dodgy-looking drops with a few line choices, that can lead to a refusal if you don't go straight down without thinking too much about it!
Agreed. And yes DONK that's me thinking "have to do it, can't let this beat me..."
It's the undercut half way down that always worries me
AA
What size is your head? I'd be interested if the hat is normal size.
* Not trying to imply you have a large melon. 😉
I find the hat a bit small too. Normal sized head AFAIK.
And I agree re the drop. I finally followed a mate down it on lap 4 and it was easy, barely noticeable. I can be a bit of a mincer though.
Ta very much to the riders and organisers for a great event.
It was so nice to chill in a rain free campsite with a pint, chatting about bikes.
That first band, what were they on? And what were they playing?
Would have liked more of: showers, curry
Brilliant weekend, top marks to tazzy and keef for putting on such a great event..
Must say the guy on the black and lime green carbon niner made the bombhole (er climb) look easy on every attempt..
Bigblackshed.
7and a half in old money.
60cm in new fangled units.
its not exactly john merrick-esque
Must have been a good event - I got round to writing my 'race report blog' within 3 months of finishing the event...!
DrP
Nice write up DrP, and thank you for the gear ratios interesting, I was geared almost identical to Jules. Nice speaking to you as well Shaggy later that afternoon, very impressive frame for a home build.
AA.
Sent you and email.
Running the same gear as you DrP - think I've worked out I was 6th back to the tent - need to ride or drink better next time 😉
I forgot to tighten my seat post camera mount so have lots of race footage of my water bottle 😳
Cheers RocketDog...royalties forwarded on to the right person!
DrP
Nice blog entry DrP.
That was my first SS gathering and I wasn't sure what to expect (of the race part at least!).
I thought I'd see how it went and how I was feeling before deciding how to tackle it, but once we were off I had to give it my best shot really. Pretty pleased with myself, despite a last lap crash, when tiredness was setting in. 🙄
The course was pretty good fun - even the sections that were mis-routed and ran anti instead of clockwise ran o.k. The one bit that killed me (oddly) was the long straight top section coming back to Tackeroo from climbing out after the steep drop. I just couldn't seem to get back up to speed there. I guess my legs were heavy from the climb and rollercoaster bits.
Look forward to another SSUK event in the future!

me too! everylap I flew down the trail toward the drop and everylap I struggled getting back. The one bit that killed me (oddly) was the long straight top section coming back to Tackeroo from climbing out after the steep drop
imperceptibly uphill? Very slight headwind? Could be from the climb I guess, dunno but that bit hurt.
Its a very slight incline with slightly spongy stuff under the sandy gravelly bits It always feels like you have the wrong ratio or wrong legs on that bit! 😀
It sure does!
Where is this drop?
I'm not man enough for single speed yet. But I saw a few of your lot round the trails over the weekend, wanted to come and hang out, but the wife wouldn't let me.
Re: that bit mentioned up there...
I'm so glad it wasn't just me then.
How many times did people get hit in the helmet by that branch on the fast two lane trail towards the drop?
It was the bollox, start to finish, just a shame I bumped into singlespeedstu again 🙂 😀 oh and my dogs loved it too.
Took the pussy route option as there was no queue for that bit on the first lap but it was worse than the drop
