The course is at Tackeroo, Scruff - although the camping isn't.
Don't know how it'll be marked out though...

Its amazing how 200 riders on pretty much the same gear can travel at so many different speeds, pretty sure the Singular guy at the start was on a proto Singular ebike 😀

Top job Taz and Keef. I had a blast at my first event, I won't base all "races" on this one though. :-). Thanks for a great weekend of riding, drinking and meeting new people.

Yep - great event. Massive thanks to Taz and crew. Loved the course - chuffed to clear 'that' climb on 4th attempt! I liked the SSUK14 beer. 😀

That was a whole lot of fun! Thanks Keef, Taz and all who helped. Proper ale on tap too!
Course was good fun. Nice drop to keep you on your toes, ace twisty singletrack and great company - singlespeeders really are the nicest bunch of mentalists you could hope to meet. 😉

Just to echo what I wrote on FB - absolutely top weekend for weather, riding and general socialness. Massive thanks to Taz, Keef, Deaky, Wayne and all the friends and family that made everything happen 😀

Now to get a t-shirt upgrade on my XT one ready for next year 😳

I am sure next year will be just as unique, enjoyable and well organised... 8)

Perhaps a Quantocks event some time in the future??!!

PS - anyone got any photos of the roller racing please? ❓

@ Oxymoron Pffft you got lucky - I was chatting to you on the gate as they wanged bikes FWIW

TAz said all the photos would be on a FB at some point and they were taking pics of the race,

Awesome weekend of fantastic riding even with the dodgy ribs

Big thanks to Tazzy and Keef for all their efforts and to all who helped make it an awesome weekend

See you all in Yorkshire

And, as I wasn't next to Bazz, in that photo, I must have been "watering the trees"

What a great weekend - nicely topped off by my maiden run round ”follow the dog"thimorning- took great pleasure in single speeding past all of the geary types, as they pushed up the big fire road climb (don't know if I was more surprised than they were )

Hazzah...
"I'm number three.. I'm number three.."!!

What a cracking weekend guys..
My Saturday evening was ruined by the mother of all migraines... I was tucked up in bed vomiting at 1930... And alcohol had nothing to do with it!
At least we were some of the last to leave the bar on Friday!

Great course -not easy in the slightest tbh... No real 'let up' sections 🙂

Had a great race with Jules and shaggy - just pipped them to the post.
The chaps in 1 St and 2nd were crazy fast!

And to DrP and the Worthing lot for taking me in for the weekend.

Great weekend, cheers boys!

I had a really bad start- Rocketdog's photos nicely capture me wandering around trying to find my bike. After that I had a great race with DrP and Jules. They both had a bit more power than me but I could plod back at them and, ahem, shoulder barge them out the way on the fast bits (sorry Jules). I blew on the last lap, but I think the order was fair. Nice to see Student Dave won on a bike that cost less than his shoes.

Really quite chuffed with myself having designed, built, painted, assembled and then raced my bike.

My highlight was being confused with Shaggy, bloke would not believe my protestations,

him" no you are him, you were really fast"

Me "no mate, you so don't know me if you think that"

Fame was cool if only for a fleeting moment 8)

Ha ha. That was me and Mrs Digga. We thought it was funny too. Glad you stopped wanging bikes down the trail for long enough to let us through. 😀

We're local, so were just out on a ride and decided to drop by to see (singlespeed) friends at the campsite and tell people to keep the noise down 😉 (we're the site's nearest neighbour in one direction).

Looked a bloody good event anyway. Top marks to Taz & Keef.

He's folded the tyre right over, presumably terminally if it's tubeless. The pitfalls of low tyre pressure.

Camera doing a stunning job of de-gnarrifying the trail there 🙂

Slight graze on the knee, larger one on the right shoulder...that's what happens when you take the racing line a bit too close!!

Indeed!
It wasn't particularly difficult, but it's one of those dodgy-looking drops with a few line choices, that can lead to a refusal if you don't go straight down without thinking too much about it!

I find the hat a bit small too. Normal sized head AFAIK.

And I agree re the drop. I finally followed a mate down it on lap 4 and it was easy, barely noticeable. I can be a bit of a mincer though.

Ta very much to the riders and organisers for a great event.

It was so nice to chill in a rain free campsite with a pint, chatting about bikes.

That first band, what were they on? And what were they playing?

Would have liked more of: showers, curry

Nice blog entry DrP.
That was my first SS gathering and I wasn't sure what to expect (of the race part at least!).
I thought I'd see how it went and how I was feeling before deciding how to tackle it, but once we were off I had to give it my best shot really. Pretty pleased with myself, despite a last lap crash, when tiredness was setting in. 🙄
The course was pretty good fun - even the sections that were mis-routed and ran anti instead of clockwise ran o.k. The one bit that killed me (oddly) was the long straight top section coming back to Tackeroo from climbing out after the steep drop. I just couldn't seem to get back up to speed there. I guess my legs were heavy from the climb and rollercoaster bits.
Look forward to another SSUK event in the future!

me too! everylap I flew down the trail toward the drop and everylap I struggled getting back.
imperceptibly uphill? Very slight headwind? Could be from the climb I guess, dunno but that bit hurt.

Its a very slight incline with slightly spongy stuff under the sandy gravelly bits It always feels like you have the wrong ratio or wrong legs on that bit! 😀
