Hi
anybody know this track
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=332110&y=299975&z=120&sv=332110,299975&st=4&ar=y&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf&dn=851&ax=332110&ay=299975&lm=0
the BOAT(white/red pluses) that goes SWish from Hemford to The Marsh and the sort of continuation RUPP (white with red dots and dashes) also SW to Cowlton and then BOAT to Priest Weston
would that be suitable for a fit but non techie rider (then looping back on yellow road cycle route) and any good views etc on the route
Cheers
I think it might be mentioned in this video.
Have ridden northwards thru Old Church Stoke-Cowlton-TheMarsh-MitchellsFold then east on BOAT downhill to farm megamuddy farm just se of Giant's Cave, then minor yellow road through Shelve and up to Pennerley, round the Stiperstones. That was 18months ago in dry summer and all was good.
Can imagine that 4x4s will use the BOAT and probably the RUPP as well so in warmer/wetter conditions than today it could be horrendous.
At the moment though, down in Ludlow at those heights of around 300m, the ground is all frozen, and summer compacted and dry. Puddles have ice on, too. Fireroads here are usually superslick with ice if it's been wet then freezing, but because it was dry then freezing, the top inch of mud that is usually on there is super solid and grippy. Went out with spike tyres on yesterday and didn't need them, could have got away with intermediates and would have been perfect.
Views up that way are phenomenal, long, all directions. Find some of those minor roads on Google Maps and drag the Streetview icon on there to see the views. Aaah.
