I have built a computer for work which is all good, but having a problem trying to run a program called Wasatch Softrip.

It has been installed but when i try to go into it a message pops up saying it cannot run as the system is under the required 512Mb of memory.

The computer has 12Gb of memory (would have had 16Gb but the huge fan/heatsink i put on it takes up the space of on mem stick) which is all showing on resource monitor.

It also has a memory card with 2Gb memory. Can anyone help (from my description) to sort this problem out? I can give more info if required about the build but the computer is at work but thought i would ask anyway.

Thanks

Is that software quite old? It might be checking the Virtual Memory of your PC and with 12GB of memory Windows might not be assigning any virtual memory because it has plenty of physical memory. Try setting the virtual memory to be a few GBs.

I'm guessing/hoping with 12GB of RAM your running 64bit Windows, if the software is old it might not play nicely with 64bit OS, have a play around with the compatibility settings.

Got you looking Solo 🙂

Poonprice: Software was originally on a machine running XP and was a few years old, i had a thought earlier it could be compatibility issues.

Windows 7 64 bit - correct. Will try the virtual memory in the morning, didn't think i would need to as like you said plenty of physical memory but it does make sense.

There's a setting you can make on a shortcut so that the application runs in 32 bit mode. That might well be worth setting on and trying.

Rachel (who, to be fair, has been a Mac user for a long while so don't take any notice of Windows advice!!)
