Preferably with some kind of “smart” capability if I should wish.
Anything that jumps out?
Best place to try is Facebook marketplace. Just put 'Smart Turbo Trainer' in and theres mountains of them, cheap as chips. Most adverts stating 'used a handful of times'.
All the Gym bunnies bought them during lockdown when the gyms were shut and now marketplace is awash with second hand ones that have never been used and are cluttering up peoples spare rooms, gathering dust
I bought one of these last year

Works ok for me and it's definitely priced at the bargain end of the scale.
The native app is functional but a bit, unfinished?
I haven't tried any of the zwift type applications with it but the built in workout plans are pretty good.
Also let's you import GPX routes into the app and pedal a route based on the GPX. Works great until you're trying to pedal at 30mph down the side of a mountain with zero resistance from the trainer.
You have to keep pedalling otherwise it doesn't advance you along the route so where you'd be freewheeling on a mountain bike, you still have to pedal like mad
Doesn't have any of the smart functions, but this turbo trainer is reduced to £15 on CRC
Better to just spend £15 to use once before putting at the back of the shed because it is a miserable experience, than spend £250 and then £20 per month subscription to do the same.
Facebook marketplace or ebay +1
Stealth add:
I've got a wheel on smart trainer I'm I've had on facebook for ages now and it's not sold.
It's a B-Kool connect+ something or other. Works fine for basic zwifting, group rides, Z2 rides, etc. Power measurement is a bit pessimistic so won't suit racing though, down about 10% at FTP and 20% or more in sprints. Only getting rid as I got one of those bargain Pinnacle ones.
£20 collected from Reading
I've got a dumb one listed someone could have for free too 😂
I've got a Renpho from Amazon. Takes up less space than my old bike on a trainer, loads quieter, fits both of us and nearly fits my 10yr old. Apparently it can do Zwift but I've not tried. Plenty of in app workouts though.
I got mine from Amazon but they dont seem to have them currently. Might be worth looking on eBay but it'd be a proper faff to post it...
Sorry I’m after a stationary cycle not turbo trainer.
