Will be there this weekend and thinking of taking the mtb. Any good routes? Anyone remember if there's been some printed in any of the mags?

Yes but you'll find them called the Purbecks

Hi Mr B,

This is my favourite route in the area, not specifically from Swanage but there's a few ways up to it from there...

Let me know how you get on...

Would show you around, but i'm away this weekend.

LOADS of great riding in the Purbecks. Should be sandy and dusty after the weather we've got at the moment too. 🙂

pop into Charlie the bike mongers shop (it's in Swanage), he knows all the local stuff, he printed a map and high lighted routes on it for me when i went in, also makes a lovely cuppa!

Rode from Corfe castle last year, nice climb starts right by the castle with lovely views all the way, ended up at Old Harry's rocks, then a visit to this pub in the nearby village.. http://www.bankesarms.com/ which has good food, lovely ales including some nice local farm cider and on a hot day will give you nice sea views from the picnic benches on the opposite side of the road, finished by riding the road way back to the castle but there's probably more off road routes to discover.

Lovely stuff, will be there possibly in Jult this year for my B'day, if not, deffo September.

oh and go to the model village cafe in Corfe, cakes to die for and fur up your arteries probably (loads of cyclists use it, inc CTC club runs and they KNOW their cake)

Talking of which, has anyone rode around the West Lulworth area? I went to Durdle Door for the first time last year and thought some of the terrain looks like a good ride. (not sure I'd want to shoulder carry a bike down them steps to the beach though :D)

Other than the area that leads to that famous beach, wondered if there might be some decent singletrack anywhere near?

Some nice cakes and ice creams on offer at Lulworth Cove too.

Spent last weekend there doing an adventure race. Yep there's some fun riding there although I was looking for the fastest route from A to B rather than what looked good fun!
