My mate wants a full suss bike with a budget of about 1500 quid. He's a tall medium build lad, lacking fear, and a bit keen at stuff he gets into so it'll probably get a bit of a thrashing. As such I'm thinking something at the burly end of trail bike in a large/20inch+ size.

Not interested in second hand as I'll end up getting involved in the buying process and I can't be arsed, nor do I have any experience of buying and selling second hand bikes.

Probably 650b with lower end spec and a dropper would be nice. Happy with and expect 2014 bikes to get a good deal.

Ideally not one of the German imports as he can't look first, unless of course they're simply too good to ignore in which case I'll put them on his short list.

Thanks!

Royles in Wilmslow have been selling off Treks at ridiculous prices. Only one model left now in 17.5" and 19.5"... If I'd known when they had hardtails I'd have been interested buy doubt you'll find better than this for the money http://www.royles.biz/p/14412/Trek-Superfly-FS-8-2014

Edit - not at the burly end of course!

Have you had a look at the offers on Paul's Cycles? There are some good value full Sussex's on there in your price range at the moment.

Bargain at that price - absolutely brilliant bike, b

Very solidly built , will take loads of abuse

Only thing I'd say is make a little cover out of an old inner tube to protect the dropper post actuator arm under the saddle

OK, it's a 29er, but the 1500 quid on one codeine would get my money.

Bird aeris 3 for 1600?

Vitus sommet for 1430 at crc?

Both have great geometry, better than most of the big brands tbh.
