So its time to replace my backpack
Ive been running Deuter Race Air 14+3 backpacks for over 10 years now for commuting (my 3rd one's zip is dying)
They work perfect for me, just right amount of storage, great ventilation, long lasting considering the abuse i give them
So i want a new one , must be in black, no other colours will be considered, also no other brands or even other Dueter models will be considered, this model is the only one i want
My Google Fu is failing to find one in black for less than £100, ideally i want to pay around £70
Can anyone find one for that price or cheaper?
Deuter bags currently on Sportpursuit
I’m going to ignore your post (this is stw) & suggest you also consider osprey’s options too. Very similar quality kit, I’ve bounced between the two brands, as I like the ‘trampoline’ style venting systems
Cheers but there are no Dueter Race Air 14+3 bags on that website

Feel free to ignore my post and suggest Osprey bags to me, and in true STW fashion i will ignore any advice given to me and do the opposite!
Joking aside, ive had Osprey bags before, they are good but i just prefer Deuter, espcailly the mesh shoulder straps and suspended mesh back and this particular model just works for everything i do and need hence having 3 of them in the last 10+ years, once i find something that just works for me i hate changing to anything else (hence why my 3 bikes have the same pedals, seat, bars and grips)
Deuter are very good bags.
Alternative in a good way is Vaude - Scotby had a few on sale recently, eldest got one to replace his POC and it is great. He too was hankering for his old Race Air 14+3....

TBH I find it surprising you found a bag they haven't changed for 10 years, product like this seem to have gone out of production, when I finally come to replace them. Good luck with your search
Hmmmm. Sportshoes.com have the Deuter bag, but in green for £65.

This place has it in black for £75 - never used that website before myself.

Amazon has it in black for £70.

I have put a space in that Amazon link - the link creates a failed Amazon link, so I have broken the hyperlink intentionally. Just paste the path into your browser (the whole line) & remove the space.
May or may not be helpful...
Lockwoods Ski Shop in Leamington had two or three in black at 50% off in store. I bought one of them back in December as it was such good value.
I think they had bought them in error as they only do ski stuff (not even snowboards 😉 ) and couldn't see them online so probably some sort of mistake.
Anyway, give them a call and ask if they have any left (they were hanging up on the changing rooms). They might post one out if there are any left.
Still on my first in over 12 years. Zip has now gone for good and all the elastics are fading. Was planning on replacing with the same but I have also stolen off the kids an Osprey 30L for heading to work via velodrome (shoes and kit added to load). Osprey is nicely made, but the Deuter is very special for that fast road use with laptop and underwear. Will follow those links, but I haven't seen any deals.
Thanks for bringing this bag to my attention
Also for the links at a fair price
Whilst I will still use my osprey raptor on some occasions this will now be my summer bag and general activity backpack
The breathable mesh and comfort on the spine is excellent, I can see why people on this thread like them
Just to add, it was my standard off-road pack for years carrying the kids stuff, kit and tools, with a camelback bladder inside too. Washes up well. It's a great rucksack.
