You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
as per the title, I'd be interested to hear from anyone with these shoes about how you've got on with them and which pedals you're using them with.
thanks in advance
I have two issues of Singletrack magazine next to the bog, they both have this shoe in, your a "P" STWer so you should be able to check the back issues: 106, page 70 & 110, page 92. Seems to get the STW 👍
Had my normal Terraduro's for nearly 3 years now and they're ace. I replaced the stock insoles as they were quite high and bulky so used something lower profile to give a bit of extra room and I really can't complain, plenty of grip while hike-a-biking and are fairly stiff but not overly so. Use XT Trail pedals and they work well as a combo.
I have both and run Crank Brothers Mallet E pedals.
On both pairs I could not get the cleat to engage with the pedal without a lot of force. Adding the spacer made no difference. The recess seems to be a bit too deep.
I ended up taking an angle grinder to the tread to wear it down a bit.
I run HV in the normal Terraduro and the Terraduro Mid feels as wide as a HV.
I'm on my second pair, first one had the sole delaminating issue which Zyro where most excellent in sorting even though I bought them from Germany.
They're really nice shoes which I use for rides where there might be some pushing/carrying. I do find my 2fo clip lites slightly nicer to ride in but there isn't much in it.
Pedal wise, I've been using with Shimano trails and recently fitted some Nukeproof Horizon CS to one bike. Both work well but the Nukeproof's are slightly harder to clip into (though that goes for both pairs of shoes).
thanks folks - I had read STW review and like the sound of the shoes but always good to get some other opinions.
how do you find the unclipped grip on the Nukeproof and CB Mallet pedals?
Terraduro mid for me pretty good but rand on crankside of right shoe has perished which is crap for £160 shoe
With the Mallets I would describe the unclipped grip as adequate. The sole is a bit too stiff and the rubber is a lot harder than 5.10’s. I would prefer to run a set of 5.10 clipless but do not get on with how much their toebox interferes with the Crank arms when un-clipping.
I've had Terraduros and the Mid version. The first thing I'll say is that, IMO, the shoes are quite different. As far as I can tell they only share the soles. As noted above I found the fit different between the two shoes (which was a pain as I ordered the Mids without trying them, thinking they'd fit the same as the standard shoe). All that being said, I like both. I think the standard shoe is better though. Easier fastening and quicker drying, plus they fit me a bit better but obviously that's a personal thing.
I run them with Nukeproof Horizon CS and find the interface great. Easy to clip in and really nice support from the whole pedal. They work well with Shimano Trail pedals too.
Thanks for the detail, I think I'm going to give the standard shoe a go. I have Shimano trail pedals on one bike and the saint spds on another so hopefully they'll work with both. Cheers
just a follow up post on this. I got some Terraduro (std) last week and did a 20 mile ride round Hamsterley this weekend as their first outing.
In short - great shoes. Fit is a little narrow so I had to go with a 44 over the usual 43 but otherwise very comfy. The cleat channel is generous and I found it really easy to clip in and out. Good power transfer for climbing - made a big difference but the grip unclipped is a bit mediocre so I might try longer pins in my pedals.
They clean up well and are easy to walk in, really pleased. And the colour matches my bike for full chromatic synergy.
I have the HV version, as I have quite a high arch. Very comfy all weekend shoe.
After 3 days riding in the Highlands recently the rand on the other shoe of my Terraduro Mid’s came away in the inside of the heel. On top of that one of the soles has started to debond and come away from the upper. So now the rand on both sides has peeled off/perished.
Great idea for a shoe but shocking durability for £160. Don’t think I would bother with Giro shoes again but then it gets tricky because I went for Giro as I was sick of Shimano shoes falling apart!
I read this was a problem with the early versions, how old is your shoe? Might be worth checking if it's covered here...

No it’s not an early pair they are under a year old and the newest version.
I've a pair, they are, I reckon, the most comfy pair of bike shoes I've used. Lasted well, could be a bit more grippy off the bike, but they have a crappy vibram sole. Uppers still clean up well. I'd have another pair, but the for the NRA link of their parent company.
